In the dangerous world of Arena, armor is essential to keeping your character safe. Your character's class will determine what types of armor can be equipped. Armor can be acquired at equipment stores and may be found as treasure.
There are also magic items that can increase your armor rating like torcs and belts.
Materials and WeightEdit
Each piece of armor is available in three major types: leather, chain, and plate. Plate armor pieces are the only type of armor that can be made from different metals. Note that the numbers for armor rating show the reduction of enemy attack rolls, so a piece of armor with a -6 effect on armor rating provides more protection than a piece with a -3 armor rating.
Material Type | Armor Rating |
---|---|
Leather | -3 |
Chain | -6 |
Plate | -9 |
Each part of your character's body is protected by a different piece of armor.
Armor Type | Leather Weight (kg) |
Chain Weight (kg) |
Plate Weight (kg) |
Protected Area |
---|---|---|---|---|
Helm | 3 | 6 | 10 | Head |
Pauldron (L) | 3 | 5 | 8 | Left Shoulder / Upper Arm |
Pauldron (R) | 3 | 5 | 8 | Right Shoulder / Upper Arm |
Cuirass | 4 | 8 | 16 | Chest and Back |
Gauntlets | 2 | 4 | 8 | Hands |
Greaves | 2 | 6 | 12 | Waist and Upper Legs |
Boots | 3 | 4 | 8 | Lower Legs and Feet |
Metal TypesEdit
Only plate armor can be made up of various metals. The metal an armor piece is made of adds a modifier to the standard -9 armor rating, as well as determining its color. The name of the metal replaces "Plate" in the item's name. Normal plate armor without a metal modifier has the same armor rating as steel but the appearance of iron.
