Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Talk to the quest giver at a Thieves Guild hall.
  2. Head to the regional temple where the burglary will take place.
  3. Enter the temple there.
  4. Find and pick up the religious item.
  5. Make your escape, dealing with any guardians.
  6. Return to the quest giver within the time limit and collect your reward.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

This Order of Arkay is ripe for the picking

One must beware any guards or guardians, however

Taking from the TempleEdit

Speak to the quest giver, who says:

"Got a guild job for ya, if yer innerested. Name is (quest giver's name). Some guy wants the (religious item) lifted from (temple). Wanna take it?"

AcceptEdit

The quest giver goes on:

"OK. Here's the skinny. You go to (temple) in (regional temple). Take the (religious item) and bring it back to me. You get the usual guild fee of (random gold) gold pieces. Ya got (time limit) days ta put it in my hands."

DeclineEdit

The quest giver answers:

"I'll keep ya in mind (player's name) if a more interestin' job comes up."

Darken the DoorEdit

Travel to the regional temple, which is visible on your overland map. Enter the temple building there and find the religious item, which can be an icon, some prayer beads, a small statue, or a talisman. As soon as you pick it up, either two knights, a monk, a giant scorpion or a zombie may show up to stop you. You can try and avoid these foes, which is not so easy within the temple's narrow rooms, or you can fight them. Return to the quest giver and hand the religious item over to collect your reward.

RewardEdit

When you give the religious item to the quest giver he will say:

"Boy, some guys are hard ta figure out. Can you believe he paid to have this lifted? Wasn't as if there was some "hideous guardian" stoppin' from doin' it himself. Huh? There was! Maybe he wasn't so screwy. Here's yer fee (player's first name). Good workin' with ya."

  • One Zombie (10% chance)

NotesEdit

  • If you keep the religious item, it will remain in your inventory and won't vanish once the quest is over, as it is usual the case for quest items.
  • According to dialogue in the questfile, the unnamed client who paid to have the item stolen is the owner of the temple itself.

Additional DialogueEdit

After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "I got a boil the other day ... but it healed."
  • "I just had a three hour conversation about the weather."
  • "The weather is pretty usual for this time of year."
  • "It seems a trifle coolish in (current locale) for this time of year."
  • "It sure is a lot warmer today than this time last year."
  • "My great aunt is going to a specialist across the Bay."
  • "It's always funny what time it gets dark around here."
  • "We should erect a war statue around here."
  • "The kids these days with their magic. (Oath), I don't know."
  • "I had the weirdest dream last night."
  • "I heard a great joke. (Joke)"
  • "(Joke) Actually, that's a joke."
  • "(Joke) Can you explain that to me?"
  • "The legal system in (region) has it good points and bad ones."

If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "þ_temple_ is pretty well-guarded against thieves, it seems.

If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "þThe guy who owns _temple_ paid some thieves to break into his own place.

If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:

  • "þHow are you, %pcf? I'm still waiting to hear from the guy who hired us.

If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:

  • "þI don't care whether that temple was guarded by the Lord of All Oblivion, %pcf. There is no excuse for failing an assignment for the Thieves Guild.
