Longhaven is a small settlement found on the edge of the Drowned Coast, in the province of Valenwood. The village lies just down the road from Woodhearth and purveys over the Shademist Moors and other surrounding wild wetlands.[1][2] A local children's tale is spread around town about the Wild Witch of Shademist, a master brewer that can create potions to cure any ailment, but with magic, her hovel appears and disappears on a whim[3] to the point she has become a master in the art of hiding.[4]
HistoryEdit
In 2E 582, a figure known as the Veiled One approached the Keerilth clan of vampires that reside in Shademist Moors' caverns with a proposition for an alliance. The Veiled One showed them a powerful ritual using the skull of an ancient vampire named Vargarion, that could grant them an endless supply of thralls.[5] With it, many Longhaven hunters that ventured into the moors became enthralled by its magic and taken deep into the wilds, either having their bodies drained of blood[2] or returned home with an odd sensation.[6]
As news of this spread, a Dunmer vampire hunter named Mel Adrys arrived in Longhaven and traveled into the Shademist Moors to uncover the truth. Another adventurer came into town not long after and assisted Mel in his search. The two found Shademist Enclave, the Keerilths' haunt, and learned about the clan's alliance with the Veiled One. Those who opposed it had fled the cave while the rest remained. After a bloody altercation, the Skull of Vargarion was destroyed and the threat to the Shademist Moors and Longhaven had been dealt with.[7]
During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the town of Longhaven was an active settlement. It was ruled by Countess Rillina and had a rivalry with Longvale.[8] Longhaven was neighbored by several settlements, such as Glenpoint to the far north-northeast, Marbruk Field to the east, and Vullain Haven to the west-northwest.[9]
