The precise origins of Meridia's brilliance are unknown. Housed within the confines of the Kilkreath Temple, this relic was safeguarded by the devoted adherents of Meridia. While the specific date of its installation within the temple is unclear, historical records confirm its presence as far back as the year 2E 582.[1][3]
In that year, Meridia's temple at Mount Kilkreath was ravaged by a harrowstorm. Despite seeking protection from their patron deity, Meridia, many of her worshipers met a grim fate as they were either slain or transformed into undead monstrosities. Meridia did not intervene to aid them in their time of need, and neither the relic nor prayers saved them.[1][3]
Accompanied by an intrepid adventurer, Priestess Bavian, among the few remnants of Meridia's priesthood, embarked on a courageous mission to recover the relic from the temple's depths. Subsequently, she utilized the relic's power to seal off the temple in the aftermath of the catastrophe. The tragic events left many of Meridia's devotees disillusioned, feeling bereft of their deity's once-promised protection. Despite her waning faith in the Daedric Prince, Priestess Bavian remained steadfast in her resolve to cleanse the ruins of corruption, driven by a sense of duty to the faithful. Upon the completion of this arduous task, Kilkreath Temple was sealed. The future of the artifact remains unknown.[1][3]
