'Ancient' RuinEdit

While it certainly isn't feasible for the ruin to be Ayleid, it's not what the cited source is saying. Either they're Ayleid ruins, or Guide Culast cannot be considered a legitimate source. Fullertontalk﴿ 10:55, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

You're right, I missed it. I've removed it now. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 11:09, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Summary of Changes 3/11/21Edit

I've cut quite a bit from this page, so I'm going to outline some of the changes people might object to without first checking the sources. This post is intended to give a summary of why some of the claims I cut were removed.

Goblins were a major slave force in Skywatch,(cited: Contraband G: Goblin-Sized Weighted Shackles in ESO) but by the mid-Second Era, most of them have been freed and no longer work in the city. The Goblin-Sized Weighted Shackles say nothing about the size of the slave population in Skywatch, just that the shackles were made at Skywatch's forge. As for the fact that the slaves were freed, the same can be said for all of Summerset. This was cut because the first source doesn't specify anything in the first claim, and the bit about goblins as a whole applies to all of the Isles, not just Skywatch. It served only to pad out the article.

During the mid-Second Era, Mehrunes Dagon cultists were common among Skywatch Altmer nobles, under the protection of the Veiled Heritance, however even with power, they remained in hiding as Daedra worship has always been illegal in the Summerset Isles. Nowhere in A Discarded Missive is it implied that Daedra worship was common among Skywatch's nobility; it's just a heritant informing Estre that they've found a new base of operations in Mehrunes' Spite.

I cut the Greenvine Traders from the page because if there's any legitimate information about them, it hasn't been recorded. We don't even know if they're based out of Skywatch. The only NPC I could find that's related to the Greenvines is a generic trader, which I can't find in Skywatch in-game today. The rest is bits regarding their reputation, and nothing about where the organization comes from or if they're even local. We do not know where the Greenvine Traders are based out of, and it would be dishonest for us to claim they come from Skywatch when we don't even have information that would corroborate such a claim recorded in gamespace.

Most maritime transport of passengers is done with Valenwood. Scout Linimondil's dialogue was cited for this. Her dialogue contains no evidence of such a claim. All she says is that she has a deal with some privateers, and that she can take you to Grahtwood. This does not imply that most maritime transport in Skywatch goes between Skywatch and Valenwood; it's one sailor offering the player a ride.

Telenger's Emporium has less to do with the city of Skywatch and more to do with the Festival of Defiance in 2E 582. Most of the section was fluff. The Guild and the Thalmor having strict rules on who could enter Ayleid ruins and how guildmembers were to properly study those ruins is more of a safety thing than a Skywatch thing. This information might be more well-suited for Lore:Mages Guild. The Thalmor's rules on Ancient Elven ruins could also be noted on their page.

There's also the issue of Skywatch being Auridon's capital. The passage read as follows prior to alteration: After the Daedric invasions of both Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal, and the subsequent damage to Firsthold in 2E 582, Skywatch was temporarily the most important city and capital of Auridon until House Rilis rebuilt their city and court. Rothondothrin's dialogue is cited here. He says the following: "Firsthold is where High Kinlord Rilis XIII rules over Auridon. While Skywatch is the capitol, he's chosen to stay here due to the close proximity of his ancestral family home, Castle Rilis." The passage as it was written previously is inaccurate; Skywatch was the capitol. Kinlord Rilis XIII merely chose to stay in Firsthold due to its close proximity to his ancestral home, which is now a tomb that holds a cursed helmet.

That about sums it up. I will gladly answer any questions regarding things I haven't covered here, and I hope more people who are willing to put in a greater search effort than I can find more to say about Skywatch. -MolagBallet (talk) 04:20, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
