Awas was an ancient Argonian who lived in Hissmir. She defended the settlement from at least one Kothringi attack; she was adept at using Kothringi weapons, including throwing knives. Part of her life story is preserved in The True Balance, a book made available to pilgrims as part of Hissmir's Trials of the Burnished Scales.

During Dreams From the Hist, you consumes Hist sap and relives three memories from the mind of Jaraleet's wife. One of them involves the use of Zaht stones to defend Hissmir from a Kothringi attack:
- Awas: "The Kothringi are upon us! Quickly, activate the Zaht stones."
If you speak to her, she'll only say:
- "By Sithis, keep your head down! Activate the Zaht stones and drive back the Kothringi!"
When Jaraleet's wife activates a nearby Zaht stone:
- Awas: "Such power! Were it ever to fall into the Kothringi's hands …."
