Quest-Related EventsEdit

If you speak to him on normal business, he will welcome you to his tavern.

"Welcome to the Fish Stink. What can I get you?"

Exquisite TearsEdit

You must procure a rare bottle of wine from his tavern during the related quest. To do so, you must distract Hectur.

You can ask him about his bottle:

That's a nice bottle of Tears of Amaya.
"I see you know your wines, friend.
To get that bottle, I had to cut through a dozen Bretons and send their captain to Sovngarde."
I don't believe it.
"What? I turned back an entire fleet of those dirtbags while I was swimming.
Why do you think they call me "The Fish"?"

If you try taking the bottle without distracting him, he will stop you:

Hectur the Fish: "Get away from that!"

If you catch a Wharf Rat and release it in the tavern, Hectur will kill it with his fists. He grumbles when the rodent is dead.

Hectur the Fish: "Damn rats. I hate 'em!"

If you find a bottle of Alto Wine on the docks, Valen Andrethi will take the drink and begin "singing" in a high falsetto voice:

Valen Andrethi: "Flyin', flyyin' in the sky, cliff racer flies so high, flyinnn'"

This greatly agitates the barman (and distracts him from the bar):

Hectur the Fish: "What's that noise? I hate that song!"
Hectur the Fish: "Troll's blood, shut your trap!"
Valen Andrethi: "Flyin', flyyin' in the sky, cliff racer flies so high, flyinnn'"
Hectur the Fish: "Shut your fish hole!"
Valen Andrethi: "Flyin', flyyin' in the sky, cliff racer flies so high, flyinnn'"

Hectur has enough and belts Valen in the mouth, which sends the dunmer flying:

Valen Andrethi: "Oww. What'd I do?"
Hectur the Fish: "That'll teach him."
