Ux-Deelith Mezatil

Ux-Deelith Mezatil is an Argonian Ux-Deelith for her tribe. She is responsible for leading the fertility rites held within the Renewal Lodge. She will be encountered when Lady Laurent wants to observe the renewal ritual for her research.

Convincing the Ux-DeelithEdit

As you approach the Renewal Lodge while holding the Renewal Charm during Something About Stibbons, you can overhear Lady Laurent arguing with Ux-Deelith Mezatil over whether an outsider can observe the rite.

Ux-Deelith Mezatil: "No, it is not possible. You do not even possess a renewal charm."

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "My manservant will be along with one momentarily."

<As you and Stibbons reach the group, Lady Laurent will notice you.>

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "Ah, look. Here they come now."

Ux-Deelith Mezatil: "Even so, no outsider has ever participated in our sacred rite."

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "You talk to her. Maybe she'll understand your less-refined use of the language."

You will now have the opportunity to convince Ux-Deelith Mezatil to allow someone to observe the Rite of Renewal. When you speak with her, she will recognize you if you have previously helped the Dead-Water and Bright-Throat tribes.

"I heard that you made an impression on both the Bright-Throats and the Dead-Water tribes. You have my respect.
But that does not alter the fact that outsiders have never participated in our sacred rite—no matter how forcefully they demand it."

If you completed By River and Root she will recognize your efforts.

"You! You are the outsider who brought life to the lost village! All of Murkmire owes you a debt of gratitude.
I am surprised that you speak for the loud woman, but my answer remains the same. No ojel has ever witnessed our sacred rite."

There must be a way for Lady Laurent and Stibbons to observe your renewal rite.

"Hmm. I suppose one outsider could be permitted to take part in the ritual of renewal. Of course, the preparations required are extensive."

What kind of preparations?

"To prepare for the renewal rite, the ux, one must align their three primal essences—blood, bile, and mind.
With the renewal charm in hand, one must endure the bite of a hummerwing, drink the venom of a snake, and meditate beneath a waterfall."

And that would allow one of us to participate in the ritual of renewal?

"If an outsider were to do these things and demonstrate a true desire to learn more about our culture … I would not turn them away."

I'll inform Lady Laurent.

Immediately after this, Lady Laurent will volunteer Stibbons to align his primal essences but Mezatil can be further questioned about the rite and preparations required.

"The rites of the Saxhleel … they are not meant to be shared with outsiders. I advise against riding this current, but I will honor our agreement.
Once one of you fulfills the requirements of preparation, we will begin the ritual of renewal."

Can you tell me more about the ritual of renewal?

"No, the ritual is sacred and not something we discuss or talk about outside the confines of the Renewal Lodge.
If you are the one to complete the preparations, you will learn about the ritual soon enough."

There must be something you can tell me about it.

"The ritual embodies the concept of the ux, the sacred mating practices of our tribe. Just as the plants and animals of the swamp renew their numbers with the turn of each new season, so too do we enter the lodge and … renew our tribe."

Can you tell me about the preparations again?

"Of course. To prepare for the renewal rite, the ux, one must align their three primal essences—blood, bile, and mind. This will make them open to the ritual and bind them to the renewal charm.
Only then will they be ready to proceed."

How does one align their blood?

"To align one's blood is to regulate one's inner currents so everything flows in the same direction. This is best accomplished by enduring the painful bite of the hummerwing.
Find these insects where they nest, in hives along the shore."

How does one align their bile?

"To align one's bile is to engage and strengthen one's constitution. What better way then by drinking the venom of a poisonous snake and surviving the experience?
Find a den of vipers in the swamp and consume a cupful of their venom."

How does one align their mind?

"I work with our participants for many risings of the sun to help them align their minds for the ritual, but there is a faster way.
Stand beneath a raging waterfall and let the sound clear all thoughts from your mind."

The Rite of RenewalEdit

After helping Stibbons align his primal essences, you can return to the lodge to find that ritual is soon to begin.

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "Stibbons! You smell like a swamp. Stand over there this instant."

Stibbons: "As you wish, m'lady."

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "My manservant did as you asked. Will you allow him to observe your ritual?"

Ux-Deelith Mezatil: "If you insist. Come, dryskin. Join us in the lodge."

<Stibbons and the Argonians walk into the lodge.>

While Stibbons is in the lodge, you can overhear Ux-Deelith Mezatil starting the rite but it will quickly take an unexpected turn.

Ux-Deelith Mezatil: "The ux starts now. Breathe deep the arousing fumes. Take it all in. Let your aligned essences guide you. When you feel totally filled, relax your cloaca and let it all out …."

Stibbons: "Ah … I don't think I have a cloaca …."

Ux-Deelith Mezatil: "Don't have a—oh no! You must exit the lodge right now, dryskin!"

<Stibbons stumbles out.>

Stibbons: "That was … most peculiar …."

<Stibbons suddenly turns into an Argonian egg. Lady Laurent walks up to the egg.>

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "Stibbons! Oh, not again."
