As you approach the situation you may hear him:

- Waking Flame Deserter: "Only death-seeking fools serve the Prince of Destruction!"
- Waking Flame Deserter: "Is there no escape from this molten pit!"
In a random encounter, he will come out of a portal:
- Waking Flame Deserter: "Divines protect me, I've made a terrible mistake!"
<He will be cornered by Waking Flame pursuers.>
- Waking Flame Deserter: "I won't go back! I won't!"
<Then gets struck dead by lightning.>
