Online talk:High Isle

High Isle and AmenosEdit

I have proposed renaming this article from "High Isle" to "High Isle and Amenos".

I'm not sure if we ever decided on a specific order of merit for place names in ESO, but the zone name includes Amenos on the Tamriel map and zone map. It's just "High Isle" on the loading screen, but we have ignored loading screen names in the past (e.g. Online:Gold Coast rather than "The Gold Coast"). Furthermore, for the purposes of disambiguation it seems like a good idea to me to include Amenos in the article title to distinguish the zone from the identically-named Online:High Isle (Chapter). If we were to move the zone to the proposed title, we could free up Online:High Isle for the Chapter. My third line of reasoning is that Online:Amenos currently redirects here, but we may want a separate region page in the future. —Legoless (talk) 14:28, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

Negatory. The name of the Zone is correctly "High Isle", as shown on the loading screen, the journal and in the database. Only the map is called "High Isle and Amenos". As a gamespace page, technical accuracy takes priority, as does the order of precedence where Loading Screen name has priority over Local Map name. Besides, they already fixed the Gold Coast loading screen - it now says "Gold Coast". Breaking consistency and accuracy for the sake of disambiguation is not the way disambiguation works. Besides, most people searching for High Isle will probably be looking for the zone, not the chapter, and I would say if this page was moved to "High Isle and Amenos", then "High Isle" should redirect here and "High Isle (chapter)" should remain as it is, making the move redundant. --Enodoc (talk) 15:15, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Agreed with enodoc The Rim of the Sky (talk) 20:09, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Likewise I think we should be keeping it as High Isle. Jeancey (talk) 21:51, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
I asked about this during the initial PTS preview and was told the loading screen name took precedence, which is why we kept it as just High Isle at the time. As this was apparently the precedent that was even written down per Enodoc's link, I don't see a good reason to change it at this time. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:00, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

() Seems like consensus is against the move, I've removed the proposal tag. —Legoless (talk) 22:46, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Return to "High Isle" page.
