Detailed WalkthroughEdit

RootsEdit

Fellmoor is a farm settlement along Pinnacle Road to the northwest of Xedilian and far southwest of New Sheoth. It is a major water root pod farming operation. The two Khajiit are the only of the four residents that actually work, however. Not only that, they are also persistently supervised in their work by an overseeing Altmer named Cindanwe. She will coldly tell you that their farming is of serious importance, and that there is a major problem concerning the lazy attitude of the two Khajiiti. Observing the constantly working Khajiiti makes it quite clear that the problem lies elsewhere. Speak to either one to learn that they are "the king and queen of the Shivering Isles"; although neither will trust you with any more information than that for the time being.

The male, Ranarr-Jo, will only talk to you if his partner Kishashi trusts you first. To gain her trust, either give her five water root pod pits to complete her work for the day or raise her disposition to or above 60. Return to Ranarr-Jo with an 'Old Wooden Spoon' as evidence of your new friendship and he will explain the situation with Cindanwe. It seems that the Altmer is treating the two as her slaves rather than residents. Kishashi and Ranarr-Jo can do nothing, believing that she has studied them for so long that she has become able to read and control their thoughts. They also think that the water root pods conceal an army underneath the farm that will rise up and devour the Isles one day, and that spies come at night for Cindanwe and plot murdering the two. They want her and her ways gone, and Ranarr-Jo also tells you that he wants her notebook, which she carries with her at all times.

Physical or MentalEdit

Area of Effect spells are useful for this quest

Cindanwe in despair

Ranarr-Jo gives you a choice of how to dispose of Cindanwe: kill her, freeing the Khajiiti to run the farm themselves, or make Cindanwe's life so miserable that she will preoccupy herself with something else for a long time. Killing Cindanwe is not difficult; simply assassinate her in her sleep or with a poisoned apple.

Making her life miserable requires you to sneak into her house when she is out and pick up various items and throw them around the house (or blast them with projectile spells), thus wrecking the entire place and occupying the orderly Cindanwe's attention as she attempts to clean up the mess.

Acquiring Cindanwe's notebook is optional to complete the quest but will net you a second reward. The notebook, according to Ranarr-Jo, includes information on her plans to kill him and Kishashi, as well as all their thoughts that she's recorded. If you chose to kill Cindanwe, then taking her notebook will not be a problem, as it is on her body. If you choose to wreck her home however, you will need to pickpocket her notebook. Make sure to do this before you wreck her home and she locks herself in the house in despair. Alternately, if you can raise her disposition above 70, she will agree to loan it to you.

LiberationEdit

Once Cindanwe is either dead or has locked herself in her house to meticulously reorganize everything, return to Ranarr-Jo. He will happily thank you and give you a reward, the Ring of Mind Shielding. It is a valuable item, enchanted with Resist Magic and Reflect Spell, which he apparently used to stop her from reading his mind. If you have obtained the Notebook you will be rewarded with a randomly selected skill book (the only exceptions being the four volumes of the Mythic Dawn Commentaries and the Fighters Guild History, 1st Ed.).

NotesEdit

  • To avoid incurring a bounty, make sure to leave Cindanwe's house immediately after receiving the quest update that you have wrecked the place.
  • If you chose to wreck the house, Cindanwe's house will be partially reorganized the next time you return to Fellmoor. Cindanwe herself will be found kneeling on the floor in a state of desperation among a pile of remaining disorganized clutter.

BugsEdit

  • Due to a scripting weakness, it's not necessary to gain Kishashi's trust. Once you've spoken with Ranarr-Jo, you can go directly to Cindanwe and kill her. Making a mess of her place will not trigger the bug.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  •   It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage SE39 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
