The tree-minders are Argonian shamans that commune with the Hist[1] and tend to Hist trees throughout Black Marsh.[2] Tree-minders work to protect Hist trees from natural threats[3]; they also work to defend Hist trees from enemies of the Argonian people, enlisting aid from outsiders if necessary.[4] Some tree-minders assume responsibility for local wildlife, including dreugh.[5]
Tree-minders have an emotional connection to their Hist tree, allowing them to sense the tree's discomfort and distress.[3] They are also very mindful of their environment; they never leave lit fires unattended.[6]

SANDBOX NOTES; DO NOT COPYEdit
- Check for a Hist tree in Bogmother, Shadowfen, Black Marsh. If there isn't one, then the tree-minders there are charged with caring for local wildlife instead of a Hist tree, not in addition to one.
- In dialogue, the term is grammatically comparable to titles like "president" or "prime minister:" capitalize it as "Tree-Minder" when it's part of a name, and use all-lowercase for a noun. Capitalization of the noun form may occur in lore materials.
- Description for ESO's "Tree-Minder" costume identifies tree-minders as "Argonians who commune with the Hist."
- Tree-minders are caretakers for Hist trees? The name would imply it.
- Lore:From the records of Ah-Tee, Tree Minder, written by a tree-minder, describes what it's like to care for a Hist tree.
- Online:Tree-Minder Deyapa's quest involves a Hist tree.
- Online:Tree-Minder Nexith's quest involves an attack on a Hist tree.
- Online:Uta-Tei is a former tree-minder who directly states that she tended to a Hist tree.
- Tree-minders uninvolved with the Hist?
- Online:Tree-Minder Raleetal's quest does not involve a Hist, and she is stated to serve with multiple other tree-minders. (This apparently includes Online:Tree-Minder Nuleez.) However, I don't recall whether or not there was a Hist tree in the area.
- Dialogue in Online:Saving the Relics states that tree-minders never leave a fire unattended — at least, not willingly.
- Lore:On Argonians speculates that all Argonians' biological function depend on Hist sap or on the Hist itself. The work also non-speculatively states that tree-minders serve as shamans. (Is this in-universe author a credible source? He's pretty blatantly disdainful of Black Marsh, though it's not clear whether that disdain extends to the Argonians themselves, or to their customs.)
- ON:Ja-Reet has no documented exposure to the Hist or, presumably, its sap prior to his trip to Percolating Mire. Of course, the effects of Hist sap could be heritable...
- I wonder what Online:Empowered Tree-Minder Totem is?
- Online:Ruuvitar's Journal makes reference to magical or alchemical "processes utilized by a 'Tree-Minder,'" but does not go into detail.
