A Few More QuestionsEdit

When first approached:

"Can I help you with anything, Warrior?"
Are you a combatant?
"Me? Oh no. Well... not yet. I'm a trainee."
What do you do?
"I tend to the combatants' needs, and I try to learn what I can by watching what they're doing."

You can optionally say:

You can't learn to fight by watching.
"You're right, of course. I will need a real instructor at some point. Perhaps you know of one?"
Not really.
"Okay... Was there anything else you needed from me?"

Either way you will have to say:

Have you heard about Volusianus? / I want to ask about Volusianus.
"That's the combatant who got murdered, isn't it? What a horrible, horrible thing."
Have you seen anything?
"I saw him that night. He asked me to find him a jug of wine, though he was already drunk."
Did you get him one?
"Of course. I'm here to serve, not to judge. He wandered off not long after I gave him the wine, and I never saw him again after that. And then there's Metundus..."
What about him?
"He was badly hurt after his fight with Dalan. He got taken to the infirmary, but... He never came out. At least, not that I could see. I think he might be dead..."

You then have two options with the first being:

He's fine, don't worry.
"Ah, good. We wouldn't want more tragedy to befall Martius Silius' team."

The other option is:

Yeah, he's dead.
"Oh no... This is terrible. Do the other combatants know?"
No, keep it to yourself.
"I will. Who would do such a thing to decorated war heroes..."

Either option will lead to:

"I don't know anything else, but I can try to find out more, if you want."
Sure.
"I'll come find you if I learn anything else."

The MessageEdit

When first spoken to:

"Oh, Warrior, I was looking for you. I have something I'm supposed to give you. A stranger gave it to me last night, saying I should hand it to you, and you only."
What did they look like?
"It was dark and I couldn't see their face very well, but I think he was a Nord. Or maybe a Breton. It's hard to say. They left in a hurry before I could ask them anything else."
What is it? / What did they give you?
"It's some sort of Imperial document. I didn't really understand it, but it mentions Martius Silius..."
You've read it?
"I, um, wanted to make sure it wasn't, uh, a threat or a... curse, maybe? Okay, maybe I was a little curious. But that's all I saw, I swear! That, and the name of a town... Blackridge, I believe. Do you think this has anything to do with the murders?"
We'll see.
"You'll make sense of it, hopefully. Maybe someone in town can help you. I have to get back to the Arena. Good luck, Warrior!"
Did they say anything else?
"Only that you needed to see this, and that you'd know what to do with it. I... I have to get back to the Arena. Perhaps someone can help you figure out what that is."

If spoken to again:

"I hope you can make sense of all this."

A Visit to BlackridgeEdit

When you meet up with him in Blackridge:

"Greetings, Warrior. Welcome to Blackridge."
Boregis? Did you follow me here?
"No, I got here a few hours ago. Took a look around the place. Come, let me show you something."

Further in the village:

"All right, this is it. Take a look around. What do you see?"
An abandoned village.
"Exactly. A village that has been abandoned for ten years, ever since the day Martius Silius arrived with his men. He was just a captain then. He stood right where you are, sword in hand, threatening the town elder."
You tell me.
"What do you see around you, Warrior? Did you see farmers in their fields? Woodcutters bringing logs for the fire? Bakers selling sweet-smelling bread?"
What are you talking about?
"I was there, warrior. I saw the whole thing through a crack in the palisade. My father had told me to hide in the woods when the soldiers came, but I was too curious. They wanted food and water. Silius said they had been ambushed by goblins. They were hurt, and hungry."
Did you give them any?
"The previous harvest had been disastrous. We had nothing to spare. Silius asked again, and when the elder refused he stabbed him through the chest. They killed everyone after that. Every man, every woman, the young, the elderly..."
Not everyone. Word got out.
"There was a trial. You saw the document. The judges said they'd render a verdict in a few days. That was the 30th of Frostfall in the year 171."
I know that date...
"It was the day the Elves sent the Emperor a cart filled with the heads of Blade agents. The Great War had started. The verdict never came. All soldiers were called to fight the Thalmor."
You killed Volusianus and Metundus...
"While Silius and his men were busy becoming war heroes, I took up the sword and never put it down. I swung that sword day and night, until exhaustion. I would seek other fighters out to test my skills. I joined the Arena circuit to get closer to Silius, until I could finally start picking out the murderers, one by one..."
Just come with me.
"I won't. I've worked too hard for this. I'm not going to let you stop me without a fight."
It doesn't have to be that way...
We can bring them to justice.
"It's no use. No one remembers Blackridge. No one but me."
"You should have kept out of this, Warrior. For Blackridge!"
