Skyborn Range is a set of mountains found in the province of Skyrim. They separate the holds of Hjaalmarch and Whiterun. They are distinguished by two mountain peaks, one of the same name called Skyborn Altar and another on the western end near the Hjaal River called Eldersblood Peak. The mountain range stretches across Hjaalmarch's southern and eastern border, between the Hjaal River and the main road that runs through Fort Dunstad in the east.^[1]^:436 The range descends into the Hailstone Valley in the north,^[2] the firm yet cold tundra grounds.^[1]

It is largely forested and ridged but there are also several passes that run through the range. The ancient city that later became called Labyrinthian is built in a valley and overlooks the land from the north side. Scattered throughout the region are landmarks, such as a mountain shrine of Mehrunes Dagon and the Lord Stone.

GeographyEdit

There is a myriad of ruins and landmarks that dot the Skyborn Range. As mentioned before, the old city called Labyrinthian is built in an isolated valley and is the largest landmark in the mountains; as such the range is sometimes called the Labyrinthian Peaks.^[1] Perusing through the landscape is tricky as it ascends higher to the summit. Eldersblood Peak and the Skyborn Altar are two of the highest points on the mountains and are typically dragon lairs. A large monument of Mehrunes Dagon is carved into the mountainside and houses a small temple underneath it. Nordic ruins such as Frostmere Crypt, Rannveig's Fast and Volunruud are located at the base of the mountain range and other ruins like Dimhollow Crypt and the Tower of Mzark are hidden in the hills and cliffs.

Eldersblood Peak rams, which the Nords eventually domesticated, were native to the region.^[3]
