Rescue Varvur SarethiEdit

You can find Varvur locked up in a room hidden behind a wall tapestry in the Right Wing of Venim Manor. As per his father's request, you should offer to get him out of there as swiftly as you can:

  • "Did my father send you? Are you here to rescue me? Should we travel together back to Sarethi Manor?"
  • travel together: "Shall we travel back to my father, Athyn Sarethi?"
    • Follow me.: "Take me to my father in Sarethi Manor."
    • Wait here.: "I'll wait right here."

Rather than leaving right away, you can first ask him about the Mer who had him imprisoned in this room:

  • Bolvyn Venim: "He is the one who had me secretly arrested. I think he was going to use me against my father. I'd stay away from him if I were you."

If you speak with him on your way back to Sarethi Manor, he says:

  • "Yes, we travel together back to Sarethi Manor."

Should you talk to him after entering the manor but before speaking with his father, he says:

  • "Talk to my father, Athyn Sarethi."

You can also ask him some more questions, though he does not have much information to share with you at this moment:

  • Varvur Sarethi: "I'm Varvur, what do you need?"
  • travel together: "Sorry, but I must stay here in Sarethi Manor until I am feeling better."

Speaking again with him after the completion of the quest prompts him to say:

  • "I'm sorry, I am not feeling well. What can I do for you?"

Clear Varvur Sarethi's NameEdit

Varvur in his room

The first step towards learning the truth behind Bralen Carvaren's murder is speaking to Varvur, who can be found in his room at the end of the guards' quarters:

  • Bralen Carvaren: "I didn't kill him. He was my closest friend. The guards found me near his body, but I don't remember anything that happened that night. Sometimes, though, sometimes I have... bad dreams."
  • bad dreams: "Sometimes I kill Bralen Carvaren in my dreams. It's... horrible. But that doesn't mean that I killed him, does it? I was having bad dreams before Bralen Carvaren died. About the time I got that ash statue. It's right over there. Maybe if you take it away the bad dreams will stop."

After you have taken the ash statue that stands in his room, he will tell you a bit more about the unusual object and its connection to the bad dreams that have been bothering him:

  • ash statue: "I was having bad dreams even before Bralen Carvaren died... It seems like they started when I got that ash statue. Maybe if you take the statue away, the dreams will stop. Maybe I should talk to one of the priests at the Temple."

Ash StatueEdit

Return to him after speaking to Lloros Sarano and he will tell you how he obtained it:

  • "I am feeling much better now that the ash statue is gone."
  • ash statue: I couldn't remember before, but now I know where I got the statue. I got it from Galtis Guvron at The Rat in the Pot."

Once the entire affair has been taken care of, you can speak with him again, to learn that he is relieved that it is all over but also still troubled by what has happened:

  • ash statue: "I'm glad it's all over."
  • bad dreams: "I haven't had any bad dreams since I spoke with Lloros Sarano."
  • Bralen Carvaren: "I feel as if this was all my fault, but at least the ash statue is gone. I know I won't do anything like that again. Oh, I think I remember where I got that ash statue..."
