Anyone else find this effect extremely overpowered? I was playing around this weekend and had avoided doing the Arena because I was playing a spellcaster, but finally decided to give it a try. When I ran into some trouble with one of the matches, I quickly discovered that invisibility combined with conjuration was a simple and unbeatable strategy... just conjure something then cast invisibility (or drink an invis potion) and wait until everyone is dead. My opponents would occasionally look around for me but they never found me... I think I could slide the difficulty all the way to max and still win any fight this way... am I missing something? - True, paired with summoned creatures invisibility would be pretty effective. But the fact that the effect goes away the moment you do anything does place limits on its usefulness... stealing an item, opening a door, looting a dead body, etc. As for detect life, vampires do have detect life and seem to use it pretty regularly; I don't know of other enemies who generally have the ability, however. --Nephele 16:29, 5 March 2007 (EST)

- Once I had enough Willpower to regenerate the cost of a medium-duration invisibility spell before it ran out, oblivion gates became a snap. Cast invisibility, run to the next door, go into sneak, go through door, re-cast, stop sneaking, run to next door, repeat as necessary, grab sigil stone - done. Of course, if I had played it that way from the start, I'd have walked past a lot of the great magical loot that I use all the time. So I'd say that Invisibility can be a huge help, provided you have reached the point where you can cast it comfortably and no longer need to cut it short very often for looting. -- JustTheBast 17:07, 5 March 2007 (EST)

- Well, come on. If you had a sword that killed anything in one hit, you'd say it was overpowered, no? I feel like that's what I discovered. In JustTheBast's example I'd summon a Frost Atronach or clannfear, open the door, cast invis, wait until the Atronach clears out the room, loot everything and everyone, then repeat. If you get tight on magic points you've got invis potions and restore magic potions for backup, these are easy to come by if you're an expert in alchemy.... I dunno, playing as a pure mage altmer, I just don't have any issue with casting invisibility at will. Anyway, the easy fix is for me to just not allow myself to go invis if I have a summons out... otherwise there will be no challenge... and I haven't even finished a single guild quest line yet! --Vilhazarog 22:18, 6 March 2007 (EST)

- I really don't think this is something that's overpowered; rather, it's just playing smart. Besides, you don't need to be invisible to close Oblivion gates easily. Even a very weak, low leveled character can run right past everything to the top of the tower and grab the Sigil Stone. --Mike | Contrib 02:30, 4 August 2008 (EDT)

- First I used sneak extensively - eventually got up to over 100 there - then I started sneak in and summon a scamp to create a distraction while I used bow and arrow. Finally, once able to cast invisibility, my tactic has become invisible, sneak behind, get a stealth bonus hit, summon a Wraith, then cast invisible again - recharge and position myself for a repeat. In the Arena, this got me to Grand Champion in no time flat. I think the spell should require more Magicka than it does - then again, if you're a mage with no armor, you need the help... - I've found that it's all about how you choose to play the game. Invisibility can make a Mage player's experience very easy. By about level 15 I was able to create destruction spells that not only do a high level of damage over time on the target but also cast invisibility on myself. The reason I did this was because I really hadn't worked on any melee skills as I was improving my INT and WIL and was tired of getting mauled by brown bears and Clannfears. I knew that I would start seeing Daedroth and other very powerful beasts up around the corner so I decided this would be a good safegaurd from getting my character stomped. Once I did this I was casting invisibility on self running up to enemies and casting the aforementioned custom spell. My enemies never even knew I was there. Yes, this can get boring but you can also use it to thin the crowds out so you have a reasonable chance of surviving. Like I said, it's all about how you choose to play the game. Bug when going through doorsEdit
I believe this bug has been mentioned somewhere else on here before. Simply, when you cast an invisibility spell and activate a door before the spell takes effect, you load as invisible in the next room. However, in some rare cases this can cause a bug where you will load as permanently invisible (Effect won't wear off) into the next room but are unable to move or perform any kind of action. I had this quite a few times on the Xbox360 and PS3 versions. The only way to fix this is by eating some ingredients or drinking a potion so the Invisibility Effect wears off.

- Old discussion, relevant information. This happens to me some, and it happens when you activate the door too close to when you become invisible. Although, as I type this, I seem to remember that it was me that started this discussion anyways, I just want to revive the discussion because it will make you go back to your previous save because your autosave will be as soon as you are on the other side. Reloading never helped me in that regard either. I will add it as a bug in a few days if no one has any disagreement. Just a "be aware" message.--Catmaniac66 13:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
A glitch?Edit
Hey there, I think I might have discovered a glitch. I created this 'invisibility on touch' spell at the Arcane University and found it very amusing to fool around with. If cast, the target becomes invisible for 120 seconds. I casted the spell on my horse and decided to take the 'ghost horse' for a ride. After mounting the horse I became invisible too - like permanently! I can't even see the oozy structure a normal invisibility spell shows. Fast traveling cured my horse, as did re-equipping armor/weapons for me - save the head. So now I'm a character without a head. If anyone knows a way to get my head back please let me know, it is a bit awkward. (PS: I already tried to re-load earlier saves, but my character is affected there too). Refresh Invisibility, once detected?Edit
If I was detected, is it sufficient to just cast a fresh invisibility spell to become undetected again? Or what else is necessary? (same question for Chameleon) Should be included in the article I think. — Unsigned comment by 78.48.169.161 (talk)
- No, it is not. I created a sealth character planning to make successive sneak attacks through this tactic, it didn't work. As soon as your invisibility expires you become detected again, even if you don't leave sneak mode, walk around, stay at longer distance or position yourself behind the foe. I tried to combine shorter invisibility effect plus longer chameleon effect in the same custom spell, didn't work either. — Unsigned comment by 189.77.189.194 (talk)

- I don't know what you're talking about - there are no Morrowind ingredients on this page, and the last edit was a week ago. Was it some other article you were looking at? This question should go on that article's talk page then. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:00, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
