Detailed WalkthroughEdit

  • This quest is only a mini-quest to direct you from one area to another, and needs no more details than are outlined above. Enter Serpent's Grotto near the wayshrine, you will arrive in its northwestern chamber, and the *near* exit - on the eastern side of the entrance cave - leads directly to Seaside Sanctuary, with the wayshrine a little wa to the east. This is the only practical route, thanks to the uncrossable mountain range to the north of the road, which cannot be bypassed unless you go so far east that you meet the north-south road from Falinesti Spring Site to Dread Vullain, and even after taking that road, there is difficult rugged terrain to the west. Alternatively you can follow the western coastline around to the north instead, via Fisherman's Rest but this is a long trek.
  • HOWEVER - If you talk to Priestess Sendel in the cave instead, you can stumble on a Maormer plot to summon a great sea-serpent, The Serpent Lord. For this you will instead go south from the entrance chamber, travel through the cave system and eventually exit through its northeast corner, to a place further down the west coast, just north of Fisherman's Rest. To get to Seaside Sanctuary from here after finishing this quest, you can either go the long way back through the cave - where a lot of monsters may have respawned - or, alternatively, head north and eventually northeast along the coastline until the way is blocked by a wall with an Ayleid door, go through this door and you'll find yourself approaching Seaside Sanctuary from the west instead, passing nothing but a few wild animals on the way.

Quest StagesEdit

Before the Storm
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
The fastest way to the sanctuary is through Serpent's Grotto. That's where I need to go.
Objective: Reach Serpent's Grotto
I've reached Serpent's Grotto. The path to the sanctuary can't be far. I should head there as soon as I can.
Objective: Travel to Seaside Sanctuary
Finishes quest  I've passed through Serpent's Grotto and found a small camp of Dominion soldiers camped outside the sanctuary. I should speak with Major Cirenwe to see what is going on.
Objective: Talk to Major Cirenwe
Notes
* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
