Benar Rethan was a Dunmer nobleman in House Hlaalu and the brother of Malur Rethan. He was the co-owner of the Vassir-Didanat Mine, along with Malur.
Over the course of the quest, his brother instructs you to go at Rethan Manor near Balmora to detain Benar for his role in the nefarious activities taking place in the mine.
However, upon arrival, he is found slain at the hands of a Hired Assassin. The assassin's orders then reveal that Malur was the one truly behind the operation in the mine.
