Gaspar Bavette

Gaspar Bavette is a Breton who can be found talking with Perditte Noie in Gonfalon Bay, just outside of the Ancient Anchor Inn.

DialogueEdit

When spoken to before Of Knights and Knaves:

"I'd ask if you want some fresh-caught fish, but I didn't have much luck today. None to spare, I'm afraid."

After the events of Of Knights and Knaves, he'll talk with Perditte:

Perditte Noie: "I saw it myself. The light at Gonfalon Head went out, right around the same time as that storm! They say rogue knights threatened the keeper."
Gaspar Bavette: "The Ascendant Order. The same ruffians drove most of the salvagers away from the Shallows. It's not safe to walk the loch."

If spoken to:

"My mother made her living picking at the flotsam that washed up in the loch. But she remembered those lost to the depths and said a prayer for them.
She'd weep to fill the ocean today. All those sailors, lost."

After the events of People of Import, he'll talk with Perditte:

Perditte Noie : "Did you see what happened? An earthquake destroyed the Colossus of Gonfalon while the nobles were having a party!"
Gaspar Bavette : "The statue of the Baron-Admiral, destroyed. Bad winds are coming to High Isle. Bad winds indeed."

If you speak to him, he'll say:

"Fighting at Castle Navire? Can't say I'm surprised. The peace talks were a bad idea. There's been nothing but trouble on High Isle since they were announced."

After the events of Deadly Investigations, the two will say:

Perditte Noie : "It doesn't make sense. This Ascended Order is tearing the island apart, looking something they think washed ashore."
Gaspar Bavette : "Well, I hope they find it and go back to the mainland. I've had enough of rogue knights and gawkers from Tamriel."

If you speak to him at this point, he'll say:

"Sounds like they found the ship of that Nord prince Burnscar. That'll make Perditte happy, I guess. She likes to daydream about princes. But where's the High King, Limerick? And what of that Elf queen Hayrend?"

After the events of Escape from Amenos, the two will say:

Perditte Noie : "I heard important visitors were rescued from Amenos. They're here for Lord Bacaro's conference!"
Gaspar Bavette : "Any idea what that conference is all about? The nobles are being real secretive as to the actual purpose of this meeting."

If you speak to him at this point, he'll say:

"Trouble on Amenos, Perditte says. Feh. There's always trouble on Amenos. I wouldn't set foot there for a purse full of coin."

After the events of To Catch a Magus:

Perditte Noie : "The Ascendant Order tried to kidnap Duchess Elea! I heard some mainlander hero saved her!"
Gaspar Bavette : "Mainlanders! I suppose they're good for something. Now if they could figure out how to calm down Mount Firesong …."

If you speak to him at this point, he'll say:

"Who cares about peace talks and outlaw knights right now? None of it's going to make any difference to the likes of me.
I'm worried about Mount Firesong. And monsters coming up out of the ground!"

After the events of The Ascendant Storm:

Perditte Noie : "I can't believe it. An Ascendant Order sailed a fleet right into the loch! I heard there was a terrible battle at All Flags Islet."
Gaspar Bavette : "And I heard that the important visitors were there. And they turned out to be the leaders of the three alliances! Good thing someone was there to defend them."

If you speak to him at this point, he'll say:

"Whatever the Ascendant Order was hoping to win at All Flags, it's dashed upon the rocks now. Serves them right. Maybe these storms are finally blowing past us."

After the events of A Chance for Peace:

Perditte Noie : "Did you hear? Lord Bacaro's conference. It's peace talks to try to end the Three Banners War."
Gaspar Bavette : "Good luck with that! They may have worked together to stop the Ascendant Order, but they won't stop trying to kill each other until one of them sits on the Ruby Throne."

If you speak to him at this point, he'll say:

"I admit I didn't expect much from these peace talks. Stuck-up nobles bickering with each other while ordinary folk went on suffering. But maybe things will change now that they've had their own taste of trouble."
