The guild has had laborers around their territory failing to pay their dues and badmouthing its members. The Thieves Guild wants to remind them why they pay protection. I should look for smithing, fishing, or other tools, but any treasures will do.

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Read the Tip Board in the Thieves Den.
  2. Pickpocket a few crafting supplies, or a lot of any treasures, in the indicated zone.
  3. (Optional) Continue pickpocketing craft supplies or any treasures in a second zone.
  4. (Optional) Continue pickpocketing craft supplies or any treasures in a third zone.
  5. Return to Kari in the Thieves Den.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Head to the Tip Board near Kari in the Thieves Den. A new message announces,

"We've got a problem with some laborers coming to a head. They aren't scared anymore, they've started refusing to pay their protection money. Need some filchers to their tools as a gentle reminder of who's in charge.
Attached are locations where the troublemakers tend to congregate, but nicking from anyone ought to stir up some healthy paranoia.
Keep what you nab, the Guildmaster only cares that the message is delivered to these laborers loud and clear."

You need to pickpocket items in the assigned areas - either any items, or the crafting items which can be looted from NPCs near the merchants, craftsmen or fishermen. There is an option to complete pickpocketing in two additional areas, each of which will give a better reward. Once you are done with the pickpocketing, head back to Kari in Thieves Den. She will reward you according to how many areas you have completed.

NotesEdit

  • The areas vary, but are always within the same alliance territory and the area order always follows the area difficulty, starting from the easiest. For example Grahtwood -> Greenshade -> Malabal Tor, or Auridon -> Grahtwood -> Greenshade.
  • The map will show circles on the major cities and towns within the zone, but these are only a suggestion. Any pockets you can pick anywhere within the zone will qualify. It may in fact be easier to find solitary NPCs who you can pickpocket without fear of guards if you stay away from the settled areas. Another tip if it isn't too late is to pick settlements which are occupied by hostile forces, such as Crosswych or Velyn Harbor prior to the quests which liberate them. These will have the perfect mixture of justice NPCs who can be pickpocketed and no interference from pesky guards.

The guild gave me leads on where I can find the laborer I should steal from, but aren't particular about who I target and the goods I take are mine to keep.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
