Quest-Related EventsEdit
The Weight of Three CrownsEdit
He will be on guard with Mim on Stirk near the Mages Guild encampment. You won't be able to speak to him.
He will later join the rest of the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild to enter the portal into Coldharbour.
The Endless WarEdit
Before starting the quest, you will find Mim, Juline and Relmus all bound by Daedric magic at the entrance to the Cliffs of Failure.
After agreeing to join the latest game as a wild card, the mages will be teleported by the Observer to the battlefield. When you are sent into the battleground, Relmus can found standing on the ledge of chasm. As you approach you may faintly hear:
- "Can anyone assist me?"
When you speak with him it quickly becomes clear what he is considering:
- "I can end this nightmare … one step and it would all be over. No more worries. No more unpleasant options. I wouldn't have to hurt anyone ….
Just one single step." - Don't do anything rash. I'm here to help.
- "Help? No one can help us. We're already dead. Lost. Forgotten. More playthings for Molag Bal.
We can't win this dreadful game. No one can. Why even bother trying?" - Don't give up. Remember why we came here.
- "I couldn't even hold on to the one thing I needed to survive. It's useless. Either I fight for naught or I end it all here and now.
I refuse to play this game. I refuse to fight against my friends and allies. It's better this way." - You lost something? Let me help you find it.
- "The shadow … the one Lady Estre gave me. She said it would protect me.
But when I refused to fight, to aid the shadow, it claimed I was unworthy. It said I wasn't fit to own such a fine shadow. And then my only chance to survive walked away." - I'll find the shadow for you.
- "The shadow … the one Lady Estre gave me. She said it would protect me.
- I don't care what you do. I'm going to go help the others.
- "Wait…you want to help the others? A shadow. That's what Lady Estre gave me. She said it would protect me as long as I did whatever it said. If I do a favor for it, it would do a favor for me.
You have to find the shadow." - All right. I'll find the shadow for you.
- "Wait…you want to help the others? A shadow. That's what Lady Estre gave me. She said it would protect me as long as I did whatever it said. If I do a favor for it, it would do a favor for me.
Speaking to him again:
- "The shadow wanted my help, but I never asked what it wanted me to do. I… I just gave up.
If you can find the shadow, maybe we'll have a chance. I… I just don't know."
After finding the shadow and retrieving the pieces of Estre's mask, Estre will be there with Relmus in tow when you return. If you speak with Relmus, his demeanor will have changed.
- "Lady Estre appeared. She said I should trust her. That I'd get out of here.
I … I don't know what to believe, but her words comforted me, at least. That's something. I think I'll stick with her for now."
After you helped the mages, they will be back at the entrance of the cliffs where they will be presented as projections under the Observer's eye.
A Bargain With ShadowsEdit
If you sided with Kinlady Estre, Relmus can be found sitting down against a wall next to her at her camp.
- "What … what happened? Ugh, my head."
Once you've spoken with Estre about her plan, Relmus will reflect on your decision to help her.
- "You picked Estre to help? I … I think that's a good idea. She suggested we throw a party when I showed up. I guess it's a little more getting to work for you."
After you defeat the two champions, Relmus will be waiting for you at the entrance.
- "Ah, there you are. Estre sent me to find you.
She said the Observer was changing the rules. She sent me away just as our cruel gamemaster appeared. He seemed very angry, but I also got the impression that he was … excited. What did you do?" - I defeated the other champions.
- "That's surprising. Oh, I had complete faith in you. I really did. But no one has ever survived long enough to defeat two champions. It's unprecedented!
Did you see Juline and Mim? What happened to them?" - They were controlled by the other leaders. I freed them and they ran off.
- "I guess I should go try to find them. They really are lost without me, you know.
Where were you rushing off to, by the way?" - The Observer told me to come collect my reward.
- "If the Observer has changed the rules, I doubt it's a reward he plans to give you.
My guess? He's going to throw more opponents at you until you finally fall. It's what I would do. Well, good luck up there. I think you'll need it."
If you speak with him again, he will say:
- "You know, you might just have to kill the Observer to end this game. I doubt you can do it, though, but I suppose you have to try.
Sorry. I have to tell it like it is. False hope can be so disheartening."
Once you have killed the Observer, Relmus can be found in a cage with his fellow mages and Estre in another. The newly revived Observer will make you choose between them but first will allow you to speak with Relmus and Estre.
When you speak to Relmus, he will lament over his choice to help you fight against the Observer.
- "I should have known. What a useless gesture! Why did we even try to help you?
Look at us! Caught like rats in a cage." - Are you all right?
- "I'll be much better once you get us out of here. I've never liked tight, confining spaces.
You are going to select us to set free, aren't you? That is the reason why you came to the Cliffs of Failure, after all." - The Observer wants me to choose between the mages and Lady Estre.
- "Of course he does. And the High Lady batted her eyes and stuck out her bossom [sic]. She does have an effect on people, I'll give her that.
But she's here for a reason. Whatever she did, she deserved this fate. We didn't. Remember that."
Depending on who you chose, Relmus can be found outside the Cliffs once the Observer teleported the freed people out.
If you got everyone out:
- "You…you did it! You got us both out of there!
I'm glad that the guild sent you here. This could have ended much worse."
After the quest:
- "This realm is cruel, my friend.
Though you may have saved us here, things may not always work out as well. You must be willing to lose those you care about if you hope to win. That's the only way we'll beat Molag Bal."
If you only got the mages out:
- "Molag Bal plays such cruel games with the people of his realm.
To put those who have failed in their live in a never ending battle, it's just, I don't want to think about it.
I'm thankful that you saved me. What now?" - There's a safe haven to the west. The Hollow City.
- "That's the place we were trying to reach when the portal spit us in all directions.
You really are remarkable. I can't believe you actually won that twisted game. We'll see you in the city. Find us when you have need of our skills."
After completing the quest:
- "I just need a moment before I head out. Everything that's happened has been so sudden.
That and my head is still pounding from whatever Estre gave me."

If you sided with Angof or Thallik, Relmus will be mind controlled and forced to help Estre's champion, Coristir.
When you speak with him while he is caged, he will lament about getting banished while helping you fight the Observer.
- "I should have known. What a useless gesture! Why did we even try to help you?
Look at us! Caught like rats in a cage."
If he's among those freed after you speak with the Observer, he will thank you.

I'm thankful that you saved me. What now?"
DialogueEdit
If you saved him, you'll find him in the Library with the other mages.
- "Thank you for not giving up on me back at the cliffs even though I had already given up on myself.
I was so close to just stepping off that edge …."
Skills and AbilitiesEdit
- Flare
- A basic ranged attack that does minor flame damage.
- Heat Wave
- The enemy releases fire along the ground in the direction it is facing. This attack does moderate flame damage to all players hit by it. This spell can be interrupted to set the enemy off balance or simply avoided.
- Fire Runes
- The enemy shoots two fireballs in the air which form two fire runes when they land. The runes do moderate flame damage over time to all enemies within the red circles and should be avoided. Players should be prepared to move as soon as the attack casts as one rune will always be cast on top of you.
BugsEdit
- After completing the Cliffs of Failure quests, Relmus sometimes does not appear in the city if he is saved with the other mages.
