Tharas is a Dark Elf member of the Zainab Tribe, whose spirit is trapped in Hircine's Hunting Grounds. When he was alive, Tharas defended his family from a pack of werewolves and became infected as a result. The tribe was forced to kill him once he lost control and accidentally attacked a tribe member, this lead to his daughter's lifelong search to find a way to free him so he could rejoin their ancestors.
His spirit periodically appears throughout the March of Sacrifices to speak to his daughter, and he later grants you a hunting wisp to assist you throughout the realm. At the end of the quest, you will have the option of either freeing his spirit or Hanu's spirit.

DialogueEdit
Tharas will first appear as a werewolf spirit in the March of Sacrifices to Hanu after the Wyrd Sisters are defeated.
- Hanu: "Watch out!"
- Tharas: "Hanu … why have you … come here?"
- <Tharas turn into Dunmer.>
- Hanu: "Is … that you father?"
- Tharas: "You must leave. Now! Before you too are trapped within these cursed Hunting Grounds."
- Hanu: "No! I won't leave you to this fate! Not again."
- Tharas: "Please, I can't—I can't hold it back!"
- <Abruptly turns back into werewolf and disappears.>
After finding Hanu at the entrance to the Wispwood, Tharas will appear again.
- Hanu: "I'm over here! I found-oh! Father, you've returned."
- Tharas: "If I cannot dissuade you, Hanu, perhaps I can be of help. This will help you track your quarry."
- <A wisp appears.>
- Hanu: "What is it?"
- Tharas: "This light will guide you through the forest. Follow it, for it shall reveal the beast you seek."
- <The wisp flies off into the woods.>
When Balorgh kills Hanu:
- Balorgh: "Did you really think victory would be so easy?"
- "I told you, lass. Here, it's hunt … or be hunted."
- <Kills Hanu.>
- Tharas: "Hanu! No!"
Tharas will plead with you:
- Tharas: Please, you must take back Tarcyr's heart! It's the only way to save my daughter."
Speaking to him before pursuing Balorgh:
- "My poor Hanu. I tried to warn her of this fate.
Her soul is now imprisoned, cursed to remain within this savage realm. All because of the actions of that vile Orc." - Is there no way she can escape?
- "There is. If you recover Tarcyr's heart, Hircine would grant a boon to your party. Only then would my daughter be allowed to join the souls of our ancestors.
Please, you must defeat Balorgh and take back that heart. I'll help in any way I can."
During the fight with Balorgh, Tharas will assist during the Fog Phase by creating traps which Balorgh can be lured into. When he does, he will say one of the following:
- Tharas: "Hold for another moment! I'm going to set a trap!"
- Tharas: "Now, now! Lure your adversary to my trap!"
- Tharas: "I'm creating a trap for your foe! Hang in there!"
- Tharas: "I'm setting a trap for your enemy!"
Once Balorgh is killed, Hircine will be appeased and the following conversation will occur:
- Hircine: "Quite the thrilling hunt. My boon is yours, child of Azura. What do you seek?"
- Hanu: "Freedom for myself and my father. Release us, so we may join our ancestors in death."
- Hircine: "I hear two requests child, not one. You must choose. A heart for a heart is only fair."
- Tharas: "Use Hircine's boon for your own freedom, Hanu. You don't deserve this fate."
- Hanu: "Father, I …. I don't know if I can do that."
Tharas can be spoken to at this point:
- "By defeating Balorgh, you've given my daughter a chance at freedom. Hanu can now join our ancestors and give wisdom to our tribe.
Please, do not allow her to refuse this opportunity on my behalf."
After speaking with Hanu and helping her decide who to free, two different conversations can occur. If Hanu decides to still free her father:
- Hanu: "Hircine, hear my choice! I choose … to free my father from this loathsome realm."
- Tharas: "No, Hanu! Don't do this!"
- Hanu: "Our people need your wisdom, father. May you find peace among our ancestors."
- <Tharas' spirit disappears.>
If she decides to save herself:
- Hanu: "Hircine, hear my choice! I choose … to save myself. And father … I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't save you too."
- Tharas: "Be at peace, Hanu. I will always be proud of you. Always."
- <Hanu spirit disappears.>
Tharas can then be spoken with again, he is happy with her choice.
- "I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of my daughter. Coming here, risking her life on my behalf … never have I known a stronger soul.
May her wisdom guide our tribe for generations to come."
