DialogueEdit

"You better not be here to beg me for an antidote. I'm fresh out of those for now. If you're here for a poison, then you're more bold than you seem."
If you're a poisoner, why do you have antidotes?
"Some people want to poison others and some people want to be unpoisoned. My teachers always said that a good poisoner could always undo their own work.
Plus, I get double the business this way!"
Doesn't anyone get upset when you heal the people they want poisoned?
"That zzavfa happens all the time! I've taken my own antidotes so often that I voluntarily worked with a chef to improve the taste. My clients really enjoy that.
I try to stay within earshot of one of the Tong guards though. It makes my day easier."
How do you get ingredients?
"Trade or bartering usually works. Rayna Falas gives me a budget to use on my wares too, which is helpful.
Oh! And if Vares Dredayn is working on a new project, there's a good chance I'll be called in to help. His experiments tend to get wild!"
Sounds like you don't mind when they get out of hand.
"Not at all! Vares is an oddball, but he's pushed me to make so many new antidotes. Lavagild, Dagon's Choke, Miralis … and those are just the most recent ones.
Some days, I'm convinced I have the best job in the Tong!"

Quest-Related EventsEdit

After starting the Careless Contamination quest , you have the option of talking with Verdam about it if this is the first time you done a quest for the Saraathu Tong:

"You must be … ah yes, the new hireling. Think you're up to the job?"

If you have done quests for the Saraathu Tong before:

"You're the Saraathu Tong's latest success story, aren't you. The one with a record of getting jobs done well. Good to see my contract is in right hands."
Vaveli Indarel [sic] hired me to kill Taupezu Azzida and bring samples from its victims for you.
"This is fantastic news! When I discovered that Daze found its way into mortal medicines, I just about rushed off to Vaveli with my shoes untied.
Getting my hands on the Mantikora's venom will mean that we're one step closer to finding an antidote."
What is Daze?
"Vehk's head. Where to start?
Daedra are heartier than a lot of mortals, and immortality can get boring. Daedra supplement their experiences with whatever they can find. Mantikora venom—Daze—is one of the supplements."
How is Daze made?
"Oh, now that's a question.
I don't really know. That's part of the reason why I need to study the poison. Daedra can have their fun, but mortals definitely won't have any on Daze. I'm just trying to see how we can stop innocents from being cooked."
Why do the Daedra take Daze if it's so dangerous?
"For the same reason that mortals take Skooma.
Daedra get bored with living. They need to add excitement to their lives. And they can withstand more than we can. Of course they're going to experiment with burning their stomachs."
What does Mantikora venom do?
"That is some zzavfa I wish I didn't know! It raises the internal body temperature of the victim. Immobilizes them. And cooks them from the inside. I saw it happen once. That was enough for me."
Do all Mantikora produce this venom?
"No. Thank Vehk. Otherwise it'd be all over for us. Even Dremora can't withstand Mantikora stings. They char like the rest of us at those temperatures!
It seems like this particular venom is specific to Taupezu Azzida."
What do you need from the samples?
"Whatever you can bring me.
Like I said, we haven't had many opportunities to study the venom. As far as I can tell, the poison courses throughout the victim's blood. It'll be everywhere by the time the victim … cooks."
How do you know about this venom? (Progresses Quest)
"I wish I didn't. But it's my job to know about these sorts of things. And when Daze hit the market, I couldn't not study it. Apothecaries throughout Fargrave wanted to know if there was a cure.
Daze led me to the Mantikora, which led me to you."

If you return to Verdam after fulfilling the request but before completing the quest:

"You're back and not even a little bit charred. The sign of an overwhelmingly successful fight.
Do you have the bodies? Is the Mantikora dead?"
Yes, I gathered the samples and killed Taupezu Azzida.
"Just the sort of news I like to hear!
can't promise that an antidote will be forthcoming, but I know that we'll make one eventually. You also halted the production of Daze. All the apothecaries and healers in Fargrave will appreciate that."
