Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Obtain a glassfish for Zaria in Falkreath.
  2. Read Zaria's note from the Jarl.
  3. Give the disguised invisibility potion to the guard in the Falkreath Barracks.
  4. Return to Zaria.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

This quest can be started after In A Pinch by speaking to Viriya:

Know of anyone in need of fishing work around Skyrim?
"You're headed to Falkreath. It's all in this note."

She will then hand you a bounty for a glassfish for Zaria in Falkreath. Once you obtain a glassfish, head to Grave Concoctions in Falkreath to speak to Zaria:

Here's the glassfish you requested in your bounty.
"I'm grateful for your efforts. Here, take this."

She will then give you 200 gold and a note from the Jarl.

Thanks for the coin. And... a note from the Jarl?
"Maybe you can help me."

The note from the Jarl states that a guard has been stealing skooma from the evidence chest, and that the Jarl would like for the guard to have an invisibility potion poured into an empty skooma bottle to scare the guard straight. Speak to Zaria to obtain the invisibility potion:

I'll deliver the disguised potion in exchange for the Jarl's ring.
"Thank you. Here, this is for you."
I'll return when the deed is done. Hopefully he learns his lesson.
"Good luck out there."

She will then hand you a Disguised invisibility potion. You will then need to head to the Falkreath Barracks to talk to the guard where you will have two options:

Seems like you don't have any trouble keeping the edge off while on duty.
"I beg your pardon, sir. I don't know what you're getting at, but whatever it is, it's not appreciated."
Here, take this. My way of saying thanks.
"I understand. Now let's pledge never to speak of this again."
Here's a bottle of skooma I found laying about. I trust you'll lock it away?
"Of course."

Either option leads to you needing to follow the guard into the jail, you can then overhear him say:

"Soon. I can almost taste it."

He will then drink the potion, turn invisible and then shout:

"Oh, no! By the Gods! This can't be happening! Gods help us!"

As you exit the jail, the guard will become visible again and say:

"I don't feel... right... I'm going to lay down... for awhile..."

Head back to Zaria and speak to her:

I don't think that guard will be using skooma any longer.
"Excellent. You've done us a great service. Here is your reward."

You will then be rewarded with an enchanted ring.

NotesEdit

  • When the invisible guard reappears after a short amount of time his inventory can then be picked and the Disguised Invisibility Potion can be stolen back and kept.
  • Killing the guard after he drinks the potion will still allow you to collect the reward from Viriya since the guard will not "be using skooma any longer." You will however almost certainly incur a bounty since other guards are nearby.

Quest StagesEdit

Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
0 Zaria, the proprietor of Grave Concoctions in Falkreath, is in need of someone to bring her a glassfish for use in potion making.
Objective 0: Obtain a glassfish for Zaria in Falkreath
Objective 10: Speak to Zaria
20 I gave Zaria the glassfish she requested. She handed me a sum of gold along with a note. I should read what the note has to say.
Objective 20: Read Zaria's note from Jarl <Alias=Jarl>
30 Someone in the city guard may be using skooma, and the Jarl has asked for Zaria's help in stopping it. Zaria plans to brew an invisibility potion disguised as a bottle of skooma. I should give the bottle to the guard suspected of using skooma in the Falkreath Barracks. Now that I understand Zaria and the Jarl's plan, I should obtain the disguised potion from Zaria.
Objective 30: Obtain the disguised invisibility potion from Zaria
40 Zaria gave me her invisibility potion disguised as a bottle of skooma. I should hand it over to the guard inside the barracks.
Objective 40: Give the disguised invisibility potion to the guard in the Falkreath Barracks
45 I killed the guard suspected of using skooma in the Falkreath Barracks. I should let Zaria know.
Objective 61: Tell Zaria that the guard is dead
50 I handed the invisibility potion disguised as skooma over to the guard inside the barracks. I should follow him to see if he tries to use the "skooma".
Objective 50: Follow the guard into the Falkreath Barracks Jail
70 I watched as the guard drank the potion disguised as skooma. He seemed truly distraught after he saw himself turn invisible. Hopefully this is the last of his skooma using days. I should let Zaria know that the plan worked.
Objective 60: Return to Zaria
200 Finishes quest  I let Zaria know that the plan to scare the guard away from using skooma was a success. She rewarded me with an enchanted ring from the Jarl himself.
200 Finishes quest  I let Zaria know that I killed the guard suspected of using skooma. She clearly disapproved of my methods, but still rewarded me with an enchanted ring from the Jarl nonetheless.
  • The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 60, 65, 75.
Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ccBGSSSE001_Misc_Falkreath stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest ccBGSSSE001_Misc_Falkreath.
