Icecrag Lair is is a new location added by the Echoes of the Vale Verified Creation. It is accessed from the south through Icecrag Causeway.
InteriorEdit
This area seems prone to earthquakes, as the ground is scripted to shake once you have passed a certain point in the entry tunnel.
Waterfall gladeEdit
The tunnel leads north then veers east, opening out into a small glen with a waterfall, mountain flowers, and collectible insects.
Frost Giant’s GardenEdit
To the southeast, another tunnel leads to a cave inhabites by a Frost Giant. Along the west wall is a bonfire and a wood pyre. Around the chamber are mammoth-skin buckets similar to what Giants use to store Mammoth Cheese, but the Frost Giant is using them to store what looks like Aetherium chunks instead. One bucket is even growing some of the unobtainable mushrooms that are found all over Blackreach. The buckets can’t be interacted with.
By the east wall, the Frost Giant stands by another bonfire. This one is less aggressive than the one in Icecrag Causeway, and more tolerant of you coming close. The two Frost Trolls further east, however, will be far less hospitable and can detect you from some distance away. They will charge into the open from where they start near another bonfire, and the ruckus of the fight can annoy the Frost Giant who will approach and shake their club.
Further south, the cavern opens into another clearing, this one covered in snow and leading up to a mountain slope. There is nothing to collect here, but you can admire the painted and decorated rock at the south end of the valley.
Streamside StructureEdit
If you backtrack to where the frost giant was standing, you’ll find a tunnel leading north that takes you to the flat area above the waterfall. More Yellow Mountain Flowers grow along the banks of the stream. Looking upstream, you can see a Wayshrine-like structure.
As you approach the structure, you’ll see it has double doors rather than being an open structure like a Wayshrine. On a pedestal in front of the structure, a Frost Giant’s skull (using the model for Karstaag’s Skull) rests. Resting in the snow in front of the pedestal is what looks like a Shrine to Auriel, possibly removed from the pedestal. The doors cannot be opened or the skull collected.
Frost Giant Elder’s CaveEdit
The steep sides of the valley bar your progress, aside from a tunnel to the left where another Frost Giant, the unique Frost Giant Elder, keeps watch over treasures. The cave it resides in includes a Boss chest.
What looks like a Paragon casing is found to the left of the boss chest but can’t be interacted with. To the right is a bowl with a pile of gold and more Paragon casings; when you interact with the pile, the gold will be added to your inventory but the casings will remain.
You must kill the Frost Giant Elder in order to obtain the Topaz Paragon. Sufficient stealth will let you avoid a fight if you wish to collect the other loot nearby.
Initiate’s Surety, a unique Ancient Falmer Cuirass, is found worn by a skeleton who lies on the floor near the treasure chest.
Topaz PortalEdit
Return to the first area at the bottom of the waterfall, and check the north side of the pool. In a recess in the cave wall, there is an empty archway and a paragon socket for the Topaz Paragon.
When activated, the portal reads “Open Icecrag Lair”.
Beyond the PortalEdit
You will then find yourself in a different zone, also called “Icecrag Lair.”. However, it is a cave with a natural skylight that doesn’t connect to the rest of the area.
Vale Deer roam the meadow, and mountain flowers grow along the banks of the stream that runs through the center of the cave. A geode ore vein and Quicksilver Ore vein are available for mining.
An ancient battlefieldEdit
As you look around, you’ll see evidence of some kind of conflict that happened here long ago. Next to the portal is the skeleton of a Frost Giant, and in the grass are many more skeletons of both Frost Giants and humanoids.
