PS3 game freezeEdit
I have given Aranea Ienith an Ebony dagger of malediction among others, but now when entering her inventory and scrolling over this particular item, the game totally freezes. Is this fixable or is there a workaround so the game stops doing this? — Unsigned comment by 213.17.35.180 (talk) at 16:21 on 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Follower Default Carry WeightEdit
Does the default armor of a given follower have weight? If I were to give a housecarl an upgraded set of steel armor, which they'd equip, would they be carrying around two sets of steel armor in terms of heaviness, or does the armor they come with not count towards their inventory limit? — Unsigned comment by TheVagabird (talk • contribs) on 05:03 UTC 22 Feb 2017
"only works during recovery phase/out of combat"Edit
Does the author think "recovery phase" and "out of combat" are the same thing, which would be redundant but people write like that sometimes, or did they mean both "recovery phase" and "out of combat"? In either case, foreslashes are best abstained from due to vagueness. 32.209.57.193 23:13, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- Unless the author means "recovery phase" as "bleedout" (Protected/Essential Followers taking a knee when HP levels too low)? I'm about to test and see if Health Regeneration enchantments work to make bleedout time any less. Will report back findings. — Unsigned comment by 70.27.105.16 (talk) at 14:55 on 14 May 2017 (UTC)

- Hmm... When I one-hit stealth KO'ed Serana with my Dragonbone Dagger, she got up in 8 seconds with and without the Regenerate Health enchantment. Could it be because I wasn't registered as a hostile character to her? — Unsigned comment by 70.27.105.16 (talk) at 16:18 on 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Followers list of unusable items?Edit
Should somebody create a page of items that don't work for followers like the Wabbajack?Werewolfvampirre (talk) 21:11, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
Erandur and FarkasEdit
In response to the recent edits about essential NPCs, Erandur isn't essential, by definition, since one of the options during his quest is for you to kill him. An essential NPC must always be unkillable, even by you, in order to count as permanently essential. Even if you elect not to kill him, he is no longer essential after the quest. Similarly, Farkas becomes killable once Glory of the Dead is complete, as documented on his page. We don't take information from other wikis as proof. We do our own research so as to not duplicate any information from other sources that might be incorrect, which I have now verified in both of these cases. (For that matter, ES Wiki even agrees with us for Farkas.) – Robin Hood (talk) 11:25, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- Farkas is marked as essential on the wikia's follower page, as well as Erandur, both incorrectly. Erandur is most definitely killable as a normal follower, which this page is for. His personal UESP page describes the exact circumstances under which he is essential, as does Farkas'. 99% of the time the ES wikia is wrong when it has conflicting information compared to UESP (nevermind conflicting information on its own pages), so using it as your only source on which to base an edit is just asking to be proved wrong. There's also a mod out there that is made to do only one thing, make Erandur essential (which begs the question why would it exist if he wasn't killable). If there are any doubts it would be best served to bring it up in a talk page post rather than scream it out on the recent changes in your edit summary. - It might be better to list the exact essential states on this page, which from a cursory glance I can't see them listed here. However, the current version of the page is the correct one. I think we could improve the layout of this page, in general, but am not sure of an easy fix. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 06:53, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

- These two are only essential as quest followers, they are never essential as permanent followers, therefore making their essential status irrelevant under the permanent followers section. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:01, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

- I added Erandur to the table of Quest Followers. He is essential up until the end of his quest, but then he isn't. Should I note that he loses his essential status at the end of his quest, or should I remove the checkmark from the Essential column?Valeria (talk) 19:43, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
- I don't think so, he isn't following you anymore when he becomes non-essential. In fact, I'm not sure he should be in the table at all - does he follow you at any point of the quest? You mostly follow him. --Ethruvisil (talk) 02:39, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- After testing it: He never literally follows you, but he does behave like a follower in unsheathing his weapon and sneaking when you do, at times at least. --Ethruvisil (talk) 16:39, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Do enemies hear noise from followers?Edit
When I have a high sneak skill, enemies don't seem to hear the follower (?) — Unsigned comment by 75.189.134.238 (talk) at 18:10 on 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, they definitely hear your followers. Whenever I'm sneaking with a follower, I'm almost always detected unless the follower themselves has a high Sneak skill (and isn't wearing heavy armor and so forth). Maybe you've just gotten lucky and always picked good followers for sneaking? Try maxing out your sneaking capabilities by using Muffle or at least removing your boots, use Fortify Sneak equipment/potions, etc. The difference will become obvious pretty quickly. – Robin Hood (talk) 20:02, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
Riverwood Elf Follower Missing Immediately When Winterhold College Master Restoration Trainer Announces You Have To LeaveEdit
Using a horse, I navigated right up to the Midden Dark back entrance at the back and bottom of the college without applying to or joining the college. I was over burdened 30,000 out of the limit of about 420 carry weight.
I struggled and then got into the Midden Dark entrance. My follower suddenly appeared next to me and then followed me for several "game hours" while I visited various magic trainers / vendors of the college buying and selling my enchanted rings. I had a huge inventory of enchanted things because I had kept as much as possible, then enchanted everything that I had practically to earn 100 level proficiency in enchanting with all the perks. I also used Smithing to make everything to level up to about 92 in Smithing. The best way that I found was to enchant sneak on a huge number of gold rings.
So I was buying spells and selling them back sneak gold rings.
Anyway, it got to be night time after hours, then the Master Restoration Trainer, Colette Marence, starts nagging repeatedly that "you have to leave, or I'm calling the guards."
So I hastened to leave ASAP, and when I got out of the Hall with the enchanting table and alchemy table and most of the magic trainers, my follower was GONE somehow from all of the threats from that woman most likely, but, happy story, I went to the tavern in Winterhold, talked with Melacar about Azura's Star, then left. Still no follower, but as soon as I had entered the White Hall Jarl's building, my follower suddenly walks in behind me as though nothing at all had happened.
I couldn't leave the college because the front gate was locked and needed a key. I couldn't ask to join the college because the Master Destruction Trainer who was guarding the path into the college for the front door was outside so that I could not apply or join until I met with her and passed her test.
I had to re-navigate my way back out via the Midden Dark exit so that I could mount my horse so that I could fast travel to Winterhold College that I had discovered because I had not come through Winterhold town, but through the Sea of Ghosts wading through the water with my horse swimming most of the time.
When I appeared on horseback after fast traveling to the College, I had to turn my horse around and then walk it toward the start of the path to the college. When I went to get off my horse 8 feet away from Faralda the Destruction Master Trainer, my legs were embedded in the masonry of the guard railings pathway sides. I then fell through the solid walkway down to the ground that was only about 10 feet below me so that no injuries happened to me. Overburdened, I walked from underneath the walkway to face Faralda Mage Trainer with my horse standing a few feet behind her. I took her test, met the Master Wizard, Mirabelle Ervine, then told her I wasn't ready for the tour of the College yet because I needed to do something. That is when I visited the town to talk with Melacar and the Jarl.
I do not know if it was the elapsed time or the completion of a quest subtask of meeting Melacar about the black star or that my follower was arrested by the guard and showed up as a locked up resident guest of the Jarl (the authorities of the town)?
Not having joined the college, Tolfdir lies to me and says for Alteration magic training at level 35 or so, "you know all that I know--there's no more that I can teach you." 216.58.27.151 23:58, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Follower interaction manipulate itemsEdit
I have also experienced the second to last bug in the list, about being able to use the follower menu to pick up items behind my reach. I didn't put confirmed since I do use mods. In my case, I have noticed you do not need to quicksave, all I do is press and hold E on my follower to bring up the order menu, and then press and hold E on an object to move it around as you would normally. This lets you move around objects that are even very far from the player.
Follower Equipment NoteEdit
There is a special inset Note paragraph in the Follower Equipment section which states that mage followers will not equip robes given to them. In my current playthrough I have given Taron Dreth's robes to Brelyna Maryon and generic Apprentice Robes of Restoration to J'zargo. In both cases they immediately equipped the new robes, and kept them equipped any time they were following me. They switch back to their default equipment if we part ways, but re-equip the robes I have given them if I ask them to follow me again, which seems consistent with general follower equipment behavior. Either the follower behavior currently described in the article has been updated, or it is far from consistent enough to be stated as the way things work. I am playing on Nintendo Switch. 73.65.56.235 03:26, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
- On the same playthrough I have now purchased Adept Robes and an Adept Hood and gave them to J'zargo. He equipped the Adept Hood immediately, but did not equip the Adept Robes until I took away the Apprentice Robes of Restoration I had given him previously. After doing so, he also equipped the Adept Robes and has kept both Adept items equipped. This might suggest that gold value is now being used to determine which apparel items mage followers are equipping. Comparing Brelyna Maryon's default Apprentice Robes of Destruction to Taron Dreth's robes, and her default Apprentice Hood to the Mage's Circlet, those would also be consistent with selecting apparel to equip based on gold value. 73.65.56.235 02:09, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Multiple creature followersEdit
I think an edit / clarification is needed for the line "You can have at most one permanent NPC follower and one creature follower at any time." I'm not sure if it is due to having creation club content (anniversary edition on Switch) but I have several creature followers at once, with no mods and through normal gameplay options. My current set of concurrent followers is Faendal, Gogh, Skritch, Manic Elytra Nymph, and Thistle. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say "one combat-enabled creature follower" at a time. Though I think some testing might be in order for which non combat creatures can be active together, as when I acquired Skritch my creature followers were both Elytra nymphs (possibly also vigilance, i don't remember) and I was not able to get Skritch to follow me until sending one of the nymphs to my home. 108.4.84.182 10:54, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Followers as Google tableEdit
Here's a google table compiled out of the page. Somebody please be so good as to integrate it into the page. It's as complete as I could make it. It's also open perms so please feel free to edit or complete it as you see fit.
