Detailed WalkthroughEdit

This quest is an obvious reference to one of the quests from Tribunal, A Star is Born, though it has somewhat darker background which will be revealed in the end. A bard from the tavern The Howling Hound in Vhul, Sirrus Nedyra, strangely enough will greet you by calling your name, and saying: "By the gods, this is a tough crowd. Ah, hello! %PCname, is it? You wouldn't be open to helping a bard with his act tonight, would you?" If you agree to help, he will continue: "Oh, thank you! This will make things so much easier...here, take this script. It's a rough one, so I don't expect you to follow the lines exactly. Just try to make it comedic, yes? Maybe what these native fetchers need is more levity. Tell me when you're ready to start the show. You'll be playing the part of the Mabrigash." and hand you a copy of a short play The Mabrigash's Wishes

As the bard said, you don't have to strictly follow the lines. Instead, you can experiment and improvise, which may result in an immediate fail of the quest (if you insult the audience by choosing "Did you hear that? He's calling your beauty imaginary!") or lead to three different scenarios. If you choose "Your taste is terrible. let me tell you something about women: what you want is one with scales and sharp claws", the hostile Clannfear will appear. If you say "Your taste is terrible. Let me tell you something about women: what you want is one with skin the color of gold", this will result in summoning a hostile Weakened Golden Saint. And finally, if you follow the lines of the play, a real vampire will appear from behind and attack you. Once you kill the creature (whatever it be), talk again with Sirrus, and he will give you an amulet, Sheogorath's Favor as a reward. This, along with the fact that this mysterious dunmer called you by name, and the odd nature of this whole quest, most likely are direct evidences that Sirrus's history is a fake, and he is apparently a Sheogorath himself, who chose to play with mortals once more in one of his typical perverted ways.

NotesEdit

  • While a vampire will be summoned if all lines are adhered to, other paths can summon a Clannfear or a Golden Saint.

A Bard's Tale (TR_m3_Vh_BardsTale)
Index Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 The bard Sirrus Nedyra in the Howling Hound in Vhul wants my help putting on a play. He's given me a script to study. I should speak with him when I'm ready to start the show.
20 Finishes quest  While acting out a play with Sirrus Nedyra I made the audience angry.
30 While we were acting out Sirrus Nedyra's play, a vampire appeared out of nowhere!
31 While we were acting out Sirrus Nedyra's play, a clannfear appeared out of nowhere!
32 While we were acting out Sirrus Nedyra's play, a golden saint appeared out of nowhere!
35 I've killed the monster. Sirrus Nedyra is looking guilty. I'd better speak to him about this.
40 Finishes quest  Sirrus Nedyra has apparently been under a curse from one of the Daedra lords, because of which his stories become reality. My intervention seems to have broken the curse, and he's given me an amulet as a reward.
