DialogueEdit

  • Greetings:
    • "Staying in the Limping Scrib? I always stop here when I cross the Thirr. Say, you look like the sort of person who could assist me. I have a special job for someone heading east to Roa Dyr."
    • "I'll be waiting here while you get those records."
    • "Do you have the trade records?"
    • "Will you help me finish this job, %PCName?"
    • "Remember, his death should look like an accident."
    • "Welcome to the Roa Dyr tollmen's hall. Ah, it's you, %PCName. You're here for payment on that delivery, am I correct? This should cover the arrangement. Have a good day! [He hands you a gold purse with an amulet and a note inside.]"
    • "I heard what happened, %PCName. They know Feril was murdered, and that's NOT good for me. Yet, it may still work out in the end, once the investigation is over. Here are 200 drakes to keep your mouth shut. You have never seen me. Now leave."

  • Background: "I'm no one important. My family was, hundreds of years ago, but that all ended with the Armistice and the destruction of Khalaan, what is now Ebonheart. Riches to rags for the few who survived. It's been a slow climb back."
  • my trade: "I am a tollmer, a clerk entrusted with the task of overseeing and regulating the movement of and tariffs on goods within my assigned jurisdiction. While most of my time is spent at a desk studying prices, trade records and inventories, my craft sometimes requires me to exercise other skills: measured negotiation with uncooperative and sometimes violent brokers, ensuring the security of valuable shipments, and in rare circumstances even exercising mystic arts to see through and dispel magickal fraud."
  • special job:
    • "I've been trying to secure a position there as a tollmer, but there hasn't been an opening in months. I fear there won't be an opening for years to come, and I'll be stuck with my less than desirable status until then. That's where you come in. The only way for me to be considered for this position is if one of the tollmer at Roa Dyr loses his rank. House Indoril takes incompetence very seriously. If a tollmer were to lose his trade records, it would be difficult, perhaps impossible, for him to recover from such a careless mistake."
    • "I told you what you need to know. Now, go get me those trade records."
    • "I'll find someone else who can handle the job."
  • tollmer:
    • "Tollmer are bureaucrats who direct the flow of goods in Indoril lands. A rung or two higher in the social ladder for me."
    • "Tollmer are bureaucrats like me who direct the flow of goods in Indoril lands."
    • "If you hadn't messed this up, I would be well on my way to becoming one now."
  • trade records:
    • "Now you're thinking in the right direction. That's the topic of the special job I mentioned."
    • "The tollmer have a hall not far from the southern docks where they keep all of their records. On my visits to Roa Dyr, I always see one of them, Feril Gothari, walking the garden paths and bridges. It would seem he's hardly ever in the hall, so his desk should be unwatched. Bring his records to me and there will be plenty of gold in it for you."
    • Isn't this illegal?: "Don't tell me you've never stolen something before. If you do the job right, it won't matter what the law says."
    • I'll get you those records.: "Good. I almost forgot... take this chameleon potion. It may come in handy if someone is near Feril's desk. But don't worry if you get seen by the slave clerks; they won't bother reporting you."
    • You'll have to find someone else for this job.: "I misjudged you then. As you wish. This conversation never happened."
    • "They're in the tollmen's hall by Roa Dyr's southern docks if you forgot."
    • "You needn't concern yourself with those."
    • "Great work! Let me see... hmm. This is not good. These records are from a month ago. A fatal mistake I fear; Feril must keep his current records with him at all times. Take this to compensate for your efforts so far. There's more if you can help me finish this job."
    • "You're back, but empty-handed. Please tell me you didn't sell them."
    • "I'll hold on to them for now."
    • "You needn't concern yourself with those, or anything for that matter."
  • finish this job: "Losing last month's records won't damage his reputation. I could try to frame him for corruption, diverting goods to the Hlaalu and such, but that's much more complicated and too risky. No, Feril's death is the only solution."
  • Feril's death:
    • "You heard me right. If you kill him, his position will open and I can try for the position again, this time successfully. I didn't want it to come to this, but there is no other good option. Don't worry, it will be more than worth your while. Once I have taken his position, I can offer you up to 400 drakes."
    • I'll do it. / On second thought... I'll do it.: "Thank you, %PCName. Now, this needs to be discreet; an obvious murder won't do. Knock him off a bridge while he's on one of his walks. It's quite a fall. Once the deed is done, meet me in the tollmen's hall in five days. That should be enough time for me to take advantage of the opening."
    • I'm not killing anybody.: "A shame. I saw a lot of potential in you. Are you sure you want to miss out on this opportunity?"
      • I'm sure.: "Then leave me. But for your own good, you should forget I said anything. You've involved yourself in this as much as I."
    • I'm turning you in.: "You'll regret this, %PCName."
    • "I'll know when you've finished the job."
    • "Just forget about it."

NotesEdit

  • Depending on the outcome of the related quest, Drelegor may end up relocating to the Tollmen's Hall in Roa Dyr to take up his new position. If you report him to the guards instead, he will simply disappear from the Limping Scrib.
  • Ilerni Hleran, the proprietor of the Limping Scrib, will direct you to Drelegor if you have not yet started the quest: "There's a fellow by the name of Drelegor who passes through here once in a while. He's been looking for someone to go to Roa Dyr, if you need the extra money. You'll find him upstairs."
  • He is the author of Drelegor's Note.
