- Speak to Felms in the Narsis Arena about the Ebony Scale.
- Travel to Riverkeep and challenge Selar Adryn.
- Convince Duke Fethas Hlaalu to order the duel by either:
- having 30+ Reputation.
- having Councilman rank or higher in House Hlaalu.
- having been acknowledged as the Nerevarine by Vivec
- successfully taunting him.
- Talk to Felms to set up the fight.
- Defeat Selar Adryn.
- Return to Felms.
Detailed WalkthroughEdit
You are now eligible to fight for the Ebony Scale. However, the Arena is unable to compel the current holder, Selar Adryn, to fight you. Felms sends you to speak with him. He's in the Great Hall at Riverkeep, which stands to the immediate south of Narsis. Challenge him. He refuses to fight you (and with 70+ disposition will reveal some of his reasons why). He notes that he could only be compelled if Duke Fethas Hlaalu (next to him) ordered him to fight. Alternatively, if the duke happens to be dead, he'll agree to the battle.
Assuming that you don't wish to murder the duke in full sight of his bodyguards, speak to him instead. He also refuses to allow the battle to happen, but if you happen to have him at 90+ disposition, he will outline why:
"Since we're friends, I'll speak plainly with you. It is Selar Adlyn's reputation, as much as it is his skill, that protects me from assailants and assassins. Therefore, I wish for him to fight only those battles which will make his reputation grow, and pose no risk of diminishing it. If you were more famous, or you held a position of high influence in House Hlaalu -- or if you were, I don't know, a fabled hero of destiny -- then, and only then, would I consent to this fight."
You therefore need to meet one of three conditions: have 30+ Reputation, have been accepted as the Nerevarine by Vivec, or be a Councilman or higher in House Hlaalu. Once you've met one of these conditions, speak to the duke. He'll agree that the fight can go ahead. You can alternatively just Taunt him until he agrees to the fight in a rage.
Make your final preparations and then return to Felms in the arena to set up the fight. Place a bet if you wish, and then enter the pit. Selar bears an enchanted Dai-Katana. Once defeated, the announcer, Eralgor will proclaim your victory. This isn't the end of things however, as Selar breaks down and attacks - meaning to fight to the death. You'll need to kill him. Once you've done so, return to Felms to conclude the quest and be granted the coveted Ebony Scale.
This is the end of the Narsis Arena quests, although you can speak to Felms to arrange repeatable fights with assorted creatures for more coin if you want it.
