Article to Discussion
I believe the information on the Editing Page should be moved to this discussion page, and a "UESP Editing Guide" should be put in its place. Yes, I know we have a "Style Sheet", but we still need a more comprehensive way of informing people the arts of editing on UESP. For example, I think the walkthrough should include a listing of the templates we use, how to do things around here, a listing of the current sysops, etc. I can do this myself, but I just need some support since this is a fairly big project proposal. --Aristeo 13:55, 24 May 2006 (EDT)
- I moved the article to UESPWiki:Task List and I made my own article. Feel free to improve upon it. (See Below Discussion) --Aristeo 17:57, 30 May 2006 (EDT)
Biographies?
Hi, I'm new.
I searched for a few important characters (Nerevar, Tiber Septim, Uriel VII, Jagar Tharn) and found no pages specifically for them, so I'm guessing that there's no biographies for important characters. Would an actual, specific (and, of course, accurate) biography for important characters be appropriate or is there some decission against it? The Sload 00:06, 23 May 2006 (EDT)
- History of Nerevar is in major part unknown (and gradually revealed as you progress through Morrowind, so it would be a huge spoiler). The best source of biographies are the ingame books, so rewriting these mostly misses the purpose. Of course if someone is willing to undertake this task and do it WELL...?
- We could write some descriptions about the charactors. This is supposed to be a Wiki after all; source of all knowledge about Elder Scrolls. I guess I could undertake this task. --Aristeo 11:21, 23 May 2006 (EDT)

- The Tamriel pages are supposed to have a "People" section but it appears it hasn't been transferred over yet (in addition to a few other sections I noted). The Old Tamriel Pages have a number of short biographies on any one of note. I'm not sure who has done, or is doing, most of the Tamriel stuff, but perhaps you could poke them to see if this omission is on purpose or not and if they are planning to add it. Either way, its a good area to add to the Wiki in the near future. Since its in the Tamriel section spoilers are much less of a concern.

- Awesome. I'd suggest handling it like the Wikipedia handlse minor characters in like Star Wars or the Matrix - that is, for well-developed characters we give them whole pages and for minor characters of no importance we put them on proper lists like "Tamriel: List of notable Iliac inhabitants" or "Tamriel: List of Second Era mages." Emperors should automatically get their own page, even if they're short. I'd gladly do some.

- As to spoilers, a template could be used for a warning. The Sload 23:59, 23 May 2006 (EDT)

- Hmm, I've got enough spare time to help out with this. Sounds interesting. I'll get on it...after graduation. --Azuri

- Would there be any way to use the construction set to extract the text of books, which somebody could then copy/paste? It seems that would be a heck of a lot easier then asking them to load up the test cell and find a chest with every single book in it and then typing them all up by hand. But I don't know if this is possible at all, or whether it would be violating some copyright issues. I'm sure we could ask Bethesda, though.... Just a thought. --Red cactus 07:38, 7 June 2006 (EDT)

- Indeed this is possible and probably what was done for most of the Morrowind books. I think we have some Oblivion books added already (see Lore:Books_A). -- DaveH 13:06, 7 June 2006 (EDT)

Deletion of pages
After coming across many pages that have been marked in one way or another as needing to be deleted, and flagging several for deletion myself, I've come up with a method I feel will make it easier to track pages for deletion. I've created a template, [[Template:Delete]], and a category, [[:Category:To Be Deleted]]. Simply changing the page to {{Delete}} will add the page to this category, and indicate that the page needs to be deleted (after double-checking that it really does need to be of course). How does this sound to people? Endareth 02:37, 6 April 2006 (EDT)
Addendum: The category seems to be going weird after the first few pages I set to Delete, doesn't seem to want to show any more pages in other than those first few... argh... Endareth 03:19, 6 April 2006 (EDT)
- Ok, looks like my problem was from making a quick change to the template as I was flagging those pages for delete. Doing a fake edit on the pages put them back in the category properly. Endareth 03:40, 6 April 2006 (EDT)
- A reason why given page is to be deleted would be very nice. Just one-two words like "no content", "duplicate", "copyright" would be fine.
- Easily done by following the Delete template with a couple of words of description. Endareth 19:44, 6 April 2006 (EDT)

- Great Idea! I've just put this template in all the Bloodmoon quest pages I marked for deletion previously. Also, I transcluded the template into the one that existed before: Mark for Deletion. Is there a way to avoid these two templates from appearing in the Category? If they do, as they do now, they may get deleted by chance. --DrPhoton 09:09, 7 April 2006 (EDT)
External Links
The original hmtl version of the site had one universal link page, is this going to be the same for the wiki or will we have links pages for each game ?
-Robmods 15:56, 8 Apr 2005 (EDT)
It looks like the prevailing format is to have individual external links in the relevant section. Excellent, but I think an actual 'links' page should still be present, as I can see it being a real pain to find the link you want this way. Just a thought...

Forums
It seems that the forums are down. I'm not sure if this is a result of your tweaking or just a temporary forum problem, but I thought I'd let you know since the first time I saw that you had made changes to fix the speed that the forums were down.
--Weirdoman 12:55, 10 April 2006 (EDT)
- Thanks...they were down to upgrade them as I noticed a few hacking attempts that were affecting the response time of the site. Hopefully the upgrade will prevent this. They are back up for now... -- DaveH 13:15, 10 April 2006 (EDT)
Oblivion Mod Management Page
Not sure this is the best place to post this, but I couldn't find any other place besides the ESF thread.
I've updated the Oblivion page on mod management to include a discussion of load-order issues and why mod management is becoming critical for Oblivion. See:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:Mod_Management
Unfortunately, I think one of you guys will need to alter the page description since it still says "there's not much need for mod management tools yet", which clearly is no longer true.
Maybe I just don't know how to do it :(

Nevermind, got it figured out.

New Editors' Page
So what do you all think about the new editors page? I moved the original content from this page to UESPWiki:Task List, and created this page. It obviously needs a little work, so feel free to increase upon it! --Aristeo 10:29, 31 May 2006 (EDT)
Sandbox?
I think it would be cool if we had a sandbox. --Aristeo 16:48, 24 May 2006 (EDT)
Guess what?! Done and done. The Sandbox is now up and running. --red cactus 07:41, 30 May 2006 (EDT).
