- Have you tried making it at a spell alter? I doubt their is already a restore speed on other spell already in-game so you'll have to make it yourself. You did already buy the base spell right? Any restore attribute spell will do for a base. Then all you need is access to the Arcane University, head to the Praxographical Center, go to the spell alter in there. Click on restore attribute, choose speed, set spell target to touch or range, and then set magnitude. That's it. Alpha Kenny Buddy 08:13, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Randomly Removed From The Blades
I am just finished the quest Blood of the Divines and I went back to the Cloud Ruler Temple and gave the armour to Martin but I went to get some armour from the wing and it showed that I was "stealing" blades helmet!I looked on my list of factions and The Blades wasn't list. I joined the blades a while ago and after looking at your website about the blades faction I tried to see if maybe it was because I have a weak deposition to Jaufre but it doesnt even show an option to increase it and it says nothing about "join the blades" again in the conversion list! Please help thank you.
When you save martin and go to cloud ruler temple after there speech you will be asked if you want to join the blades if you do not click yes than anything you take from cloud ruler will be stolen. Btw save often i cant tell you how many times ive ran into a glitch or did something stupid and lost my game-Turganne
Oblivion - multi enchantments on armor
I've looked all through the discussion and forums, but I can't seem to find anything on how to make enchanted armor with more than one enchantment. Have I missed it somewhere? I'm playing GOTY on PS3 if that makes any difference. AlchemicAngel25 08:39, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Jan 22, 2011
- It is not possible to enchant armor or other worn items with more than one effect, though you can find equipment with multiple effects. On the other hand, you can enchant weapons with multiple effects. --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 08:52, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Quests doesnt start
Hi, im new on this site and i come from Slovakia so please excuse me my accidental bad english.... I have a problem with quests in Oblivion.. For example if I visit a deadric shrine and talk to the essential person there i get the instructions, the offering list, bud the quest doesnt appear in the list of active quest or in the list where i can choose a quest to do, if i bring the resources and make an offering, the god talks to me, but again.. the quest doesnt start, there is nothing wrote in the inventory,no new quest or the refreshment of a quest, no map marker.. If i do all the quest by memory and get back to the shrine i get the reward and the quest appears somewhere in the middle of the completed quests list... sometimes not even that... How do I challenge the Grand Champion of the Arena?
Everything was easy, step by step and with plenty of direction, to become the blue team champion. However, there is nothing I can find to challenge the grand champion. No question posed by the Arena master or matron deal with this. The door to the Red Room is closed. The Grand Champion is not to be found to ask directly. If I go to the other side, all I can do is bet. There has to be a prompt, a place, an action, or something, that will allow me to make this challenge. - You must discuss Challenge the Grand Champion with the Battle Matron. Then you have to challenge him yourself, in person. Then you must go back and inform her about it. I made a topic on the forums and I forgot to check if it was in another thread, and it was. I would like to know if I am able to delete my own published topics or if the staff have to do it on their own.
Cannot register on forums
I'm new here... I created my UESPWiki username with no problem. Now I'm trying to register on the UESP forums, and I'm faced with an impass.
Yes, I was born before Today 1998. I fill in my information (my name and password length both meet the required criteria) I enter my email twice, and enter the confirmation code. Click submit
The page refreshes and the red message at the top states, "The forum was invalid. / The code was incorrect."
I've tried it a thousand times; I even emailed the Board (the link provided should you be "visually impaired or otherwise having trouble") a week ago. Still no reply
So, I figured I'd post my inquiry here.
All the info I'm entering is correct; What's the matter? Is/has anyone been faced with these problems before?

Quest: "A Brush With Death" Missing Painter Rythe Lysandas
Hey Guys,
I have been playing oblivion for like 2 years and I have been using the same character. My question is about the mission, "A Brush with Death". Basically, insstead of having the most common bug described, where a character cannot leave the painting, I can't even enter the painting. I am still seeing the early message in my current quests box that tells me to seek out Tivela Lyrhandas; "...his wife Tivela has been frantically searching for him. Perhaps I should visit their home here in Cheydinhal to see if I can assist with the search". When I travel to Cheydinhal with the quest active, a green arrow appears on my map at the Lythandas house door. But when I enter, Tivela is nowhere to be found and there is a red arrow at the door telling me to go outside. I've searched all over the city and cannot find her. Essentially, I have been playing this game for too long to restart. I am getting ready for the fifth title. I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and has any solutions. If the only option is to restart then I won't bother with finishing this mission, I invested too much time already. Thanks.

ok should i get this game on pc or 360 or ps3??? if the pc's graphics are way better ima build a high end pc myself can some1 suggest? is playing on pc annoying? does it freeze alot? P90 user 11:16, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- The graphics are basically the same on all platforms, although Todd Howard has stated that PC textures are usually more detailed. The PC version lets you use the console and add other mods, so it would always be my first choice. rpeh •T•C•E• 11:24, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

- A note graphics wise. If you have a low- or even mid-range graphics card in your PC, you may have problems running Oblivion in a high detail mode. I have 3 GB RAM and a 2.9 GHz processor, but because of my lower graphics card I run Oblivion in Low Graphics, as well as adjusted some visual options to maximize performance. In Shivering Isles the guards dont attack the gate keeper in the bigging.
I cant fig out why when i walk up to the bunch of guards by the gate keeper they dont attack him. i tried to talk to them or just attack the keeper to provoke him to go for them but no luck. I know they have to get killed by him to keep moving forward in the quest but he's not doing squat. Any ideas ? This is on 360 fyi. Thanks.
Tagline changing
I noticed when I was logged out the tagline said The UESPWiki - Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995 but when I logged in it just says From UESPWiki. Is there a reason for this? I'm just curious. mxk101Talk 21:48, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
Heretic in Imperial City???

This is an In-Game question, mainly for those who have played The Shivering Isles. those who have may remember the Heretics and Zealots. When I was playing this morning BACK in Cyrodiil in Imperial City, I encountered a Heretic attacking the propietor of the Tiber Septim Inn. Is this a glitch? I don't think you can encounter SI NPCs in Cyrodill normally.

- This is a known phenomenon. It's because the tiber septim is a sort of dumping ground for lost characters. The mechanics behind this however are not clearly documented, this is an issue I am interested in. The Heretic Watchman is a common occurence and it says on the heretic watchman "page" they are associated with breakneck camp. I'm trying to find a way to trigger this with the escorts. Enchantable Items that can be Reverse-Pickpocketed
I've heard many stoies about people reverse pickpoketing items enchantd with effects such as constant fire damage. I've nver come across a weightless, equipalbe item. If anyone has come across one post it here with its location. Thanks

- Mage hoods and black hoods are weightless. Mage hoods can be found on conjurer bosses and are relatively common to come across, but black hoods are rare with only a few in existence. Wrist irons are also weightless, but you might want to keep a pair for yourself if you're playing a pure mage character. Legoless 23:27, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Daggerfall: Where are the save files?
Hello. I'm not sure if I'm adding this correctly - so if I am doing something wrong, please forgive me and let me know how to correct it.
Anyway I started playing Daggerfall again today after downloading the version used for later vs. of windows (I have windows 7). I have found this site to be a valuable resource.
One thing I haven't found, however is how to find the saved files.
I wanted to keep a save file of every major step and 6 simply is not enough. I vaguely recall when I first played I was able to "move" the files somewhere else and move them back (I played more then one character so I'd move whatever character set I was playing into the appropriate area so I could access thosue files in game. )
Well now when I go into the daggerfall folder I see 6 folders labeled from SAVE0 to SAVE5. So I thought AH HA! but... there is nothing in them. yet I can load saved games and the fixsave program can bring them up.
So.... where are they? I have "show hidden files" checked in the windows option. I also tried moving the corresponding folder of a "saved file" somewhere else with the idea that there would be no more point to that file... but nope it still showed, telling me that the saved file info is not in the "Save#" folders.
Can anyone tell me how to find the files? (I even searched on the name I used to save.)

- It just looks like another collector's edition. It contains the "making of" DVD, two map posters (Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles), $10 coupon for Skyrim and the GotY edition of the game. It also comes in a nice steelback case. PS3 players seem to be getting excited over it, as it looks like it comes with trophies and PSN connectibility (for the DLCs, I assume). Vaermina Shrine Quest
Hi,
I'm trying to start the Vaermina shrine quest, and the shrine will not acknowledge my offering (1 black soul gem). Once I realized the task was retrieving the Orb from Arkved, I knew I might have some trouble. It turns out, much much earlier in the game I had already went through Arkved's tower. I went through it again... for kicks, but he's gone now, and so is the orb. I no longer have the orb in my possession, though I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I did with it. In fact, I don't recall ever taking it the first time I went through the tower. I can't remember if I killed Akrved, but I'm thinking I may have... since he's no longer in the bed. Anyway, I think I screwed myself out of being able to complete this quest, and the Deadric shrine quest line. I'm hoping someone tells me otherwise. Any advice?

- You can't go through the tower without starting the quest. You also can't drop the orb, as it's a quest item. If you used console commands to do these things it could have unknown consequences. You could try forcing the quest to start/finish. Also, Arkved is unimportant, so it doesn't matter if he's disappeared. --Legoless 01:51, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Odd, I must have started the Vaermina quest, but the orb is not in the tower or my possession... and I never got the Skull of Corruption. - Check your completed quest list and your current quest list, then you will know whether you have done it or not. You cannot enter Arkved's tower without starting the quest and the orb cannot be dropped, so you must hvae done it previously. --Manic 20:31, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

- Yeah, I think I just have been playing for too long. I did complete it. I realized now why I couldn't start the final quest in this line. I never went back to Clavicus Vile to complete that quest. I just planned to keep Umbra, but I didn't realize it would ask you if you wanted to return it... before completing the quest. Morrowind (view on map) links
Not sure if this is the right place so please move it elsewhere, if appropriate.
Certain (view on map) links are causing warning dialogs regarding "google maps API keys" and "google maps API not compatible with this browser", this only happens if I'm not logged in - if I'm logged in then the links are all of the same form as the 3rd example below and work correctly. This happens on 2 different machines with different releases of Firefox.

- You're missing the point, I think. I know the 1st 2 examples don't work - that is precisely why I'm reporting them as an error. Those links were grabbed directly from the specified pages - I'm not "using" anything, just clicking links on the site and getting errors. To repeat, if I'm not logged in and click the view map links I get errors (which should not be happening), the 1st 2 examples above are links which don't work, the 3rd one does. If I log in then all of the links are like the 3rd example and they work. They were copied directly from the links as presented by the site - I'm not making them up. I can send you a screenshot of the tooltip which appears if I hover the mouse over one of those links if you like.

- No, I did not use google or something. I have been using the same bookmark to Oblivion:Oblivion for years, I take the Morrowind link from the left sidebar. I go to Places, then to the pages referenced above. I only mentioned the difference between logged in / not logged in as I thought it might help you fix a glaring problem, in fact I only noticed the difference because I logged in so I could report the problem in the first place. - Then the problem is with your bookmark. However you get to newcontent3 or newcontent1 - that is the problem. Don't use those URLs and you won't get a problem. Explain to me please how that is wrong, on 2 different machines, with different browsers. If it was happening on only one I would have naturally assumed a bookmark error, a browser fault, a plugin fault - and investigated the problem and not reported it, but to have it wrong on 2 systems confirmed to me that there IS a problem. In fact, by stating "No, we're not going to change it because it's not necessary" and by suggesting I always log in, you have effectively admitted that there is something you could change and that there is a difference in the links (between logged in and not logged in) - it should not be up to site users to modify their browsing behaviour (which includes having an account and logging in to it), you should be saying "Oops, we'd better look into that"...
And bear in mind that it is not ALL of those "view on map" links which are wrong, just 'some' of them, as shown by the 3rd example above. The majority (of those I've visited recently) are correct, a few are not. That alone, to me, says there's a problem, especially as it is repeatable, on those few links, both within a browser session and across multiple sessions. And before you ask, yes my browser cache is cleared automatically on exit, which happens several times a day, and this has been occurring for several days now.
Allow me to rephrase the original question:-
Would you expect that 2 links, on 2 different pages, to the same content, would be the same?
On the Morrowind:Places page, the (map) links for all 14 of the Minor Ashlander Camps take me correctly to the google map. On the pages dedicated to those locations, the (view on map) links are correct for 10 of the 14 places, the 4 which are incorrect are:-
Morrowind:Aharasaplit_Camp, Morrowind:Aidanat_Camp, Morrowind:Mila-Nipal and Morrowind:Salit_Camp.

- Oh this is turning out to be very interesting...
Those 2 search links you posted on the 17th? I followed those links on the same day and got exactly the results you described. I cannot recall if I was logged in or not at the time.
Today, however, I am very definitly logged in and I'm getting entirely different results. The 2nd search is returning 7 results (including the 2 which are expected), the 1st search is returning FIFTY! the vast majority of which are in the Oblivion namespace. Curiously, the 4 I noted above are not contained in either set of results - work that out if you can. Note that I am following your links - not navigating manually to that search page and performing the search myself.
I have screenshots of both results pages, I have also saved the pages locally. You are welcome to all of that if you want it. I really don't know what more I can do to convince you that there is a problem with this wiki and that, for me at least, it is consistent and repeatable.

- I've no idea what your problem is, but I don't get any of the results you describe - and you're the only person who seems to have this problem. Logged in or logged out I get a working map. I'm not. If those links are broken for me, they are potentially broken for others as well. Just because you can't see it happening doesn't mean that it is not happening, at all, ever, for anyone.
Anyway, I've now completed a little (personal) project which necessitated using those links, so I won't be needing to use them any more. You may, therefore, consider the case closed, albeit unresolved.

- If it works when you're logged in, then log in. We're not getting reports of this from anyone else, so it's simplest to assume that the problem is to do with something to do with you. Why aren't glitches working?
I was playing Oblivion after I installed the SI and KOTN expansions, and I finished the game once and wanted to restart so I made another character, I tried to do the Infinite Money glitch with Dorian, and then Kvatch, but neither of them worked, and I certainly don't want to do the Vampire Quest, so does installing Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine add a patch to the game? Hock Joints
Beast Folk had hock joints in previous games, but I don't ever seem to find info on the Races pages about whether its a 'development difference' or a physical difference explained by cannon.
My first question... is Argonian and Kajiit anatomy different because developers didn't create a separate body type for beast folk in Oblivion, or is it different due to location in Tamriel?
My second question... will beast-folk (if any) in Skyrim have Hock joints or normal knees? --Skober 14:42, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- The lore explanation is that both Khajiit and Argonians have different forms, ranging from beast-like to almost human (additionally, in the Argonian's case, tree-like also comes into play). Khajiit form is decided by the moon cycles, while Argonians become more beastial/tree-like based on the amount of Hist sap they ingest at their naming ceremony. From a developer's point of view, I have no idea why they made the change in Oblivion. --Legoless 14:49, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Can't get Widow quest from Darius
I hope this is the way to ask a question. New here. I'm a level 103 player. I've finished the main quest, the Mage's guild, the Theive's guild, the Fighter's guild and am almost done with the Morag Tong (holding off to see if I can find all of the Sanguines...think I sold them to the Creeper and then he reset on me). I've just joined the Imperial Legion and the first thing he asked me about was Mehrun (his 3rd quest according to your site). I didn't think anything about it and went on to the next quest...yes, I saved. I have Lugrub's axe stashed at the Creeper's place and have stolen the land deed, brought them both to Darius, dressed appropiately, and he still won't ask me about the Widow. I didn't save this time. I can't do Talos Cult until he does. What do I do now? Did my ignorance mess up this quest line?

Imperial City Statues
I've exhausted my abilities searching the pages, forums, and whatnot, but still have not found the answer to my question which follows...
Who are the two male statues in the Market District? I think the two in Arena District are Morihaus and Alessia, but have no input to guess who the Market-Place Statues are (maybe Remans?). --Skober 09:55, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- According to the Oblivion Official Game Guide, the western one is "Uriel Septim III: Commemorating Uriel III's victory in the War of the Red Diamond", and the southeastern one is "Pelagius IV: Son of Tiber Septim".
- This is why I don't trust the official guide for this kind of thing - Uriel III lost the War of the Red Diamond, and Pelagius IV was the grandson of Uriel Septim V, not Tiber's son. So take the answers with a pinch of salt. rpeh •T•C•E• 10:12, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Quest: Work is Never Done
Hello, this is my first post as a new member but I had a quick question for anyone who could help. I am playing the Shivering Isles expansion right now and their is a quest in Bliss where I need to talk to a man by the name of "Tove the Unrestful". I read the guide on this site as to where I might find him. Your guide states that he is usually at his home or a local inn, and gives detailed hours about where to find him. To get to the point I have been searching for this man for 3 in game days. He never comes home, he isn't at the inn and he is never spotted walking around. I have searched everywhere even going as far as breaking in his house only to find him never where he is supposed to be. Is this a known glitch and how could I best remedy this? Thank you. - He is a bit bugged, bit you should be able to find him. Worst case scenario, he died for some reason (there are ways for Bliss residents to die), but if you follow his daily schedule as documented here you will find him. Possible problems includes him being stuck on the bridge between Books of Bliss and Orinthal's house - and, as mentioned, him being killed because of Big Head's bug, where all citizens will participate and accidentally kill each other. Oblivion: Dying in the sun like a vampire after joining the Dark Brotherhood
Hello I currently finished the main quest limne of Oblivion and wanted to join the Dark Brotherhood. After I joined I now am not able to get outside between 6am and 8pm because it seems like I'm having the vampire disease eventhough I didn't meet a vampire beside Vicente Valtieri and the count of Skingrad.
Is there any way to cure this? The wiki says that I can cure vampisism by using:
Set PCVampire to 0 Set vampire.hasdisease to 0
But I don'T know how to use this and/or they don't work because if I enter "Set PCVampire 0" it doesn't work. Also it doesn't work with the following: "PCVampire 0" "player.PCVampire 0" "vampire.hasdisease 0" "player.vampire.hasdisease 0"

pc or console?
does anyone have a game on both pc and console in from atleast this year? how much difference is there between graphics? i dunno whether to get it on pc or console pc is so expensive. wats the best video card and motherboard for gaming out there? P90 user 09:44, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi, the graphics are pretty much the same on both. If you have lots of mods on your computer, it will have a lower FPS, however, the pc has graphic mods to improve the graphics, making them better than the console. Dark Brotherhood Quest Bug
i'm on the quest next of kin. i've killed everyone except for caelia draconis. every time i kill her, my game will freeze when i try to save or autosave. I have the game for xbox so I can't use console commands. Does anyone know what i can do??? Thank you
Wiki Random Page button is buggy

- After doing some digging I got an answer on this. The reason that we cache the random page for anons is because it's more draining on the server to have it available for all users. Create an account, it's the simplest solution to this issue. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:06, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

How To Get Rid Of Permanent Enchantment Effect (From Non-Quest Item)
I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I've been having with my Oblivion character. I have a pair of Ebony Gauntlets of the Hunter which have somehow managed to give me a permanent enchantment of Detect Life at a range of 85 feet. This happened after I activated one of the Hestra Rune Stones that give Bound Gauntlets while wearing the Gauntlets of the Hunter. Since doing this I can no longer equip the gauntlets (I get an error message saying I can no longer equip the item if I try to wear them) but the enchantment is still there listed under active effects and I just can't get rid of it.
I thought I could remove it using the console command player.dispel but I can't find the magic ID code for the detect life 85 feet enchantment. All the codes in the detect life spell listings on the wiki are for different ranges (I have tried using all of them anyway, but in vain).
If anyone could offer some advice I would be really grateful! Lhalkon 14:05, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
- The effects from enchantments are different from those for spells. Each enchanted item has it's own "spell" that tells the game what effects it has. For example, the gauntlets you mention has an enchantment of
EnAppDetectLifeGreater
. That enchantment has a ID of 47807. Your method would beplayer.dispel 47807
. I am not sure if this will work, but that's only because I have not used dispel and am unsure of how it works. You could also tryplayer.removespell 47807
. I have used this a lot in scripting, but again Idon't know how it will work with enchantments. Also, I am not sure if this will allow you to wear the items again, but I think it will... Maybe you should post back with your results. :p --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 18:09, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

- Hmm, I'll have to remember that dispel command. I guess I've never had to use it in my modding or regular gameplay. I know what you mean about the Detect Life though. I've tried a couple mods, but I've never found one that I think really makes it look great. Now that I think about it, it almost always gets worse when up close. The purple fog is annoying when it's in your face... I was using one mod for a while that changed it to an outline of the actor mesh, which was very visually appealing at range, and generally overall for creatures. But for NPCs, the mouth and eye sections of the model was outlined very prominently at close range. Maybe I'll try my hand at a mod sometime. :p --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 23:15, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

But what I am seeing in the file for these is (two examples)

The index doesn't seem to 0-5, its always 2 digits from what I see, so it type and compareOp. Do you know how to interpret these?
The function can be numeric as well as textual like JX, what do the numerics numbers mean?

- Be careful to distinguish the character '0' from the number 0. In ASCII the character '0' is decimal 48 (0x30). For the function codes '00' to '71' see the bottom of the TES3 File Format document. Leveled Nightingale items
With no specification as to which character levels yield which version of items, I am hesitant to continue my thieves guild career...
Any insight as to which level unlocks the best quality items?

EDIT: Just finished "Hard Answers" not realizing I would receive a leveled item... @ level 42, I received the second highest quality, to my dismay. I recommend notation on relevant pages mentioning a reference of character level vs. item quality.--Skober 12:31, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
