Melinda Kraken is a Breton witch who runs Kraken's Spa, a bathhouse in Bruma.
She rises at 6am every morning and heads to the Tea Room to help Luciana set up for the day. She eats breakfast at 8am for two hours, then spends the day wandering around, chatting with customers, until 8pm, when she knocks off to eat dinner for two hours. After that, she spends another two hours cleaning up before she goes to bed at midnight.
She wears a brown shirt, light brown linen skirt, and clogs; she carries a small amount of gold and a loaf of bread.
Melinda has a bed in the Spa's private quarters; since she's the owner, she has her own room, which contains a small desk, chest of drawers, cupboard, and a bed.
The first time you talk to her, Melinda will introduce herself proudly: "Hello, and welcome to Kraken's Luxury Spa! I am Melinda Kraken, the proprietress. We offer use of the pool free of charge, but if you would like something to drink or a massage we can accommodate you for a modest price." If you ask her whether anything is wrong with Olaf Too-Tall, she says: "Wrong? Olaf loves it here! It's almost as if he's here constantly, standing in the corner, almost as if he were frozen. Now if you'll excuse me, I really am a very busy woman..." If you ask her about the spa, she'll tell you more: "I inherited the Spa from my late lamented husband, he was something of a barbarian, but a fastidiously clean one. We designed and built the Spa together, there are hot springs which flow beneath Bruma just below the caverns. We enlarged this cave and used wards to bind the ice so that it wouldn't melt. The spring water is drawn up through the rock via natural vents. We control the temperature by adding icemelt water, it costs almost nothing to maintain, so I let everybody in Bruma use it free of charge. We do charge for our other services though.
