Phoenixes are mythical creatures present in Altmeri[1] and Bretonic[2][3] folklore. Little is known about phoenixes except for their intense red plumage.[1] Aurbic Phoenix imagery is associated with the school of Restoration.[4][5]
The Gryphon Cel-hinwe was believed to be the phoenix by some members of the ancient Altmer tribe of progenitors of the Kinlords of Sunhold because of the intense red coloration of its feathers and how they appeared in the firelight in the day of its hatching.[1]
Phoenix Moths are moths native to the Systres isle of Galen, and are known for their regenerative powers and affinity with ash and fire.[2][3][6] They are believed to be echoes of ancient times of wild magic.[7] The Druids claim to have created them, though this is doubtful.[6]
Armor and weapons named after Phoenixes were sold in the Imperial City during the Interregnum in 2E 582.[8][9]

NotesEdit
- The Daggerfall User's Guide features a quote from William Shakespeare's sonnet that references the Phoenix:"Devouring Time, blunt thou the Lion's paws, And make the earth devour her own sweet brood; Pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger's jaws, And burn the long-lived phoenix in her blood".[10]
