Wormblood was a powerful Altmer necromancer who led Worm Cult following the demise of Mannimarco during the Planemeld.[1]

HistoryEdit

Little is known about Wormblood's past. According to a report by Razum-dar, an agent of Queen Ayrenn and the leader of the Eyes of the Queen, some of Wormblood's followers believed he was a close relative of Mannimarco, such as a cousin or nephew. The same account claims that Wormblood renounced his birth name in defiance of a family that had disowned him for pursuing forbidden magical practices.

He appeared as a tall, emaciated High Elf with pale skin and shadowed eyes. He was known for speaking in a whispering, almost silent voice. Some speculated he might have been a lich, though this was not confirmed to be true. He wielded the Staff of Worms, which was a powerful symbol of authority within the Worm Cult, and according to one account, Wormblood was long designated as Mannimarco's chosen successor and the leader-in-waiting of the Worm Cult. It was said that Mannimarco established a secret Worm Nest, concealed not only from his enemies throughout Tamriel but also from other branches of the cult. This hidden cell was charged with resurfacing to restore the cult should disaster befall Mannimarco or the Worm Cult itself. Wormblood has embraced this role, declaring himself a vessel for Mannimarco's ambitions and enforcing strict adherence to the King of Worms' doctrines and designs.[1] He was determined to restore the Worm Cult to its former glory.[2]

Wormblood was the mastermind behind the resurgence of the Worm Cult across Tamriel,[1] orchestrating attacks against both the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild, as well as the development of the Soul Reapers. His schemes led to the death of the leader of the Fighters Guild Merric at-Aswala and the abduction of the Archmage Vanus Galerion. In the wake of these events, Gabrielle Benele and Azah of Sentinel assumed temporary leadership of the Mages Guild and Fighters Guild, respectively, ultimately resulting in the formation of the Stirk Fellowship.[3][4]

NotesEdit

  • Zumog Phoom was another individual continuing Mannimarco's legacy. Many of the remaining members of the Order of the Black Worm flocked to the Phoom's side, as he was also a former student of Mannimarco.[5][6]
