Xal-Krona (Jel: Sacred Behemoth),[1][2] also known as Argonian behemoths,[3] are hulking Argonians most often found in Black Marsh. Argonians can become Xal-Krona through the consumption of Hist sap.[4] They possess immense physical strength and can spew corrosive sludge.[5][6]
Considered great warriors, their ample size and strength is bestowed upon them by the Hist.[1][7] They are often created for a reason: the Dead-Water Hist provided its tribe with a behemoth to test young warriors during their rite of passage.[7] It is easy for one to underestimate the Xal-Krona's intelligence,[8] but assuming their sheer size and brute force means they lack wit is a fatal mistake.[9] The Xal-Krona are not mindless monsters: they are more than capable of being sentimental or proud, and respect their tribes' traditions.[3] They are capable of speech, but unlike regular Argonians they are usually only capable of simplistic primitive-like sentences and refer to themselves in the third person.[10]
There are some variation present in Behemoths, such as a crimson red-scaled variety found in service to Mehrunes Dagon, believed to have been corrupted and altered by Daedric magic.[1] Some behemoths have also been turned into Soul Shriven.[11] Vahath Behemoths are somewhat similar creatures, but of different specific origins.[12]
An Argonian behemoth was rumored to be the captain of a pirate ship during the Interregnum.[13]
