Chiseling out Corruption is awarded for defeating Corruption of Stone in Veteran Earthen Root Enclave after placing the Challenge Banner, which will enable Hardmode and make the fight more difficult:

• The enemies will be generally stronger.

• All four Stone Atronachs will come to life after Unstable Explosion phases (instead of three in non-Hardmode).
