When you enter the dungeon, you'll see him being attacked by a scamp.

Drathas: "No. No! Get back!"
<Lyranth appears through a portal and kills the scamp with a single fireball.>
Lyranth: "Get up, mortal! Your weakness embarrasses us both."
Lyranth: "Hmm … someone approaches. Doesn't appear to be from the Waking Flame."
Drathas: "Can you talk to them? I just need to catch my breath."

You can speak with him after his rescue.

"I feel just a little winded from that fight. And a little, um … embarrassed. I have no idea how I can possibly fight through more of these creatures.
You should talk to Lyranth. She's in charge here."

After you accept the quest, you can ask him some questions.

After you accept the quest, you can ask him some questions.
Or if you already completed the quest
"So you agreed to help us? Oh, thank you. I … I am not really prepared for this type of thing.
My village tries to stay peaceful. Just keeps to themselves, you know? Until all this started. Now, well things are different."
"These terrors that came to our village … I never experienced anything like this. I just want to craft my tools, not fight beasts!"
Do you know where your family might be?
"I've never entered this mine before. This place is cursed! It closed down long before I was born, so I have no clue where they could be kept.
Hopefully they're not in too deep. I just want to find them and run as far as I can."
How did you meet Lyranth?
"A portal appeared in our village this morning and out she stepped. Most of my remaining neighbors ran and hid. Sensible, considering.
But something inside me said I should talk to her."
What did you say?
"As I approached, she demanded to know the location of the Waking Flame. I explained they took our people into this mine. That's when she offered her deal.
I don't know why I said yes. I'm not a fighter. Maybe I'll die in here. But I have to try."
Tell me what happened in your village. / What has been happening in your village?
"Not long ago we started hearing chanting and strange lights coming from this abandoned mine. We discovered this cult had moved in.
Then, people began to vanish. They'd go on hunts or out to trade, and never return. Soon half the village was gone."

After you defeat the first group of enemies, you'll come across three prisoners in cages: Nevrasa is in a cage with a captive. A dead captive is in the cage next to them. Drathas and Lyranth will run up after you, and the former will unlock Nevrasa's cage.

Drathas: "Look, in the cage! Survivors!"
Drathas: "I can open this! Give me a moment."
Drathas: "Here—you're free!"
Nevrasa: "Drathas? What are you doing here?"
Drathas: "I came to find my father and my uncle. Have you seen them?"
Nevrasa: "Those cultists took them both ahead. Nobody who has gone farther in has come back. Be careful!"
Drathas: "Hold your end of the bargain, Lyranth. Make sure they get out safe."
Lyranth: "Indeed. I will see them to safety."

You can speak to Drathas here.

"At least some people are alive. And they saw my uncle and father! But their warning ….
No, no, I can't lose hope. We must keep going."
How did you unlock that cage so easily?
"Surprised I actually have skill in something? In the village I'm something of a tinkerer. Fixing tools, crafting locks, even a little alchemy. Whatever someone needs.
I guess I picked up a few useful tricks."

When you reach the third pull, Drathas will point out the cages full of dead captives.

Drathas: "More cages! I can check for survivors while you clear the Daedra."

After the third group of enemies is vanquished, he comes to the conclusion that nobody in this area survived. This revelation is jarring for him.

Drathas: "They are all dead. Keep moving. Just give me a moment."

You can speak to him here.

"No sign of my father or uncle. We must keep going deeper."
Did you know these people?
"Yes. I knew each of them.
These cultists must pay."

When you enter Oxblood's Menagerie, Drathas notices his uncle, Avron, sitting injured over by the northwestern wall.

Avron: "Dra … Drathas? You're here?"
Drathas: "Uncle! You're hurt!"
Drathas: "Take down that Ogrim guard! I must tend to my uncle."

Once you defeat Oxblood the Depraved, you'll hear Avron last words to his nephew.

Avron: "You shouldn't be here Drathas. These people, they're too dangerous."
Drathas: "Don't worry, I have help. Where is father?"
Avron: "Taken … by Baron Zaudrus. Please, Drathas. Flee this place."
Drathas: "Uncle, I know I can save my father. I know I can help."
Drathas: "Uncle? No!"

Then Drathas, saddened by his loss, will turn to face you.

Drathas: "Continue on. I will catch up."

If you talk to him at this point:

"Please, go on ahead without me. I'll catch up in a moment.
All these people. Friends, loved ones—snuffed out. For what? It's all just too much."

As you enter the Howling Caverns and face Taskmaster Viccia, Drathas will catch up with you.

Taskmaster Viccia: "Escapees? Not on my watch."
Drathas: "Tell me where to find my father, monster!"
Taskmaster Viccia: "Father? Do you expect me to see any mortals as individuals? You're just flesh and muscle."
Drathas: "Let's take this monster down! I can help!"

Drathas will aid you during this fight by cleansing the Taskmaster's traps.

Drathas: "I can clear these traps!"
Drathas: "I'll handle these!"
Drathas: "Let me fix this!"

If the Taskmaster gets close to him, he will scurry away:

Drathas: "Get her away from me!"
Drathas: "Keep her off me!"
Drathas: "Too close for comfort!"
Drathas: "No, no, no, no."

If a player dies during this fight:

Drathas: "You can't die on me!"
Drathas: "Get up! We aren't finished yet!"
Drathas: "No! We have too far to go!"
Drathas: "It can't end like this!"

Once the Taskmaster is defeated, Lyranth will appear with some bad news:

Lyranth: "It's worse than I thought up ahead. They used the captives to excavate an old Mehrunes Dagon shrine."
Lyranth: "It seems they prepare to sacrifice the captives who still live."
Drathas: "Sacrifice? My father could be one of them! Let's hurry!"

If he's spoken to at this point:

"We have to save my people—my father—from whatever horrible fate they plan for him. These monsters need to pay!
I know I seem weak, but I won't be stopped. Not until I save anyone I can."
You did well in that fight.
"Thank you. Something inside of me just poured out. All the anger at what we've seen. And the hatred for these abominations.
I know I can't fight as well as you, but I hope I can pull my weight while by your side."

Further into the cave, through the Boiling Path, you'll encounter Lyranth and a force barrier blocking your way, which she easily gets rid of. After this, Baron Zaudrus will suddenly appear, knocking Drathas back when he tries to confront him, and kidnapping Lyranth.

Lyranth: "It's worse than I thought up ahead. They used the captives to excavate an old Mehrunes Dagon shrine."
Baron Zaudrus: "Ah, Lyranth. Your reputation precedes you. I find you … useful."
Drathas: "Who are you? Why did you take my people?"
Lyranth: "Baron Zaudrus. We meet at last."
Baron Zaudrus: "Lyranth. You are mine!"

After Zaudrus disappears with Lyranth, Drathas will stand up, with his body as hurt as his spirit.

Drathas: "That creature hits hard. I think he cracked a rib."
Drathas: "Just go on ahead. I can't do this."

You can talk to him to try to encourage him.

"Whatever that was, he's just too strong. I barely stood a chance. How in the world can we fight something like that, let alone defeat him? Even Lyranth stood powerless.
Perhaps this is where my fight ends."
You can't give up. We can do this.
"Glad to hear you think so. But you saw what happened. He saw me as nothing more than an insect. And that's how he saw my uncle. And father. We're nothing to him.
Just leave me. Go, please. Finish the deal. And free whoever still lives."

After defeating the Molten Guardian in the Unsealed Cauldron, Drathas will catch up with you again.

Drathas: "They really want to stop us, huh?"
Drathas: "I want to finish this. I know that together we can. Let's do it."
"I'm sorry I wavered. This adventuring and danger … it's all brand new to me. So much death.
But I have faith in you. I know together we can find my father and get him to safety."
How are you feeling after that blow?
"Honestly? In a lot of pain. I think that Baron Zaudrus monster did some real damage.
But it doesn't matter. Not really. I can push through it to find my father. So, let's go."

After crossing into the Cauldron Sacrarium, you and Drathas will find the bodies of the people that were enslaved, and a strange ritual being conducted by Zaudrus.

Drathas: "More captives! Maybe some are still breathing."
Drathas: "All dead. Nothing but skin and bone. Completely worked to death."
Drathas: "Look! Down below! What are they doing?"

Talking to him as he oversees the strange ritual:

"No sign of Lyranth down there. And I can't tell if my father is among the captives. We must get down there fast."

Further on you'll enter the Extraction Chamber, where Lyranth is being held on a strange device.

Lyranth: "About time you showed. I started to think I would have to break out without you."
Drathas: "What in all of Nirn is this?"
Drathas: "Take out those Daedra guarding her. I'll see if I can find anything useful up top."
Drathas: "There's some conductive oil up here! Maybe you can use it."

During this fight, Drathas will be constantly throwing you Daedric Catalyst Fluid to aid you freeing Lyranth.

Tossing oil:

Drathas: "Tossing you some oil!"
Drathas: "Use this oil to guide Lyranth's power!"
Drathas: "Here! I found some conductive oil!"

After tossing the oil:

Drathas: "I'll look for some more of that oil."
Drathas: "I'll return with more of that black ooze."

After the device holding Lyranth is debilitated, thus freeing her:

Lyranth: "Enough! This feeble prison can no longer hold me!"
Lyranth: "That did it! Finally, I can get down from this inane trap."
Lyranth: "Drathas, you performed adequately. I'm impressed."
Drathas: "Huh. You actually praised me."
Drathas: "What did Zaudrus want with you?"
Lyranth: "He said very little. But such machines are used to extract Daedric power. I assume for use in their ritual."
Drathas: "We must stop Baron Zaudrus and find my father. He's close. I can feel it."
Lyranth: "I concur."

You can then ask Drathas about his thoughts:

"She may be bossy, but it's a relief to have Lyranth back. With her powers we can make our way to that ritual and stop it. Hopefully saving everyone we can along the way.
Especially my father."
Do you think you father is up ahead?
"I'm optimistic we'll find him, one way or another.
Regardless of what has become of him, I think he would feel proud of how far I've come."

You walk your way to the place where Zaudrus's ritual is taking place. As soon as he sees you, he goes away. There, Drathas will find his father among his townsfolk's corpses.

Baron Zaudrus: "You defile the sanctity of this site! I must find another."
Baron Zaudrus: "I know what you seek, Lyranth. Come find me if you wish."
Lyranth: "Coward! He couldn't have gotten far."
Drathas: "All these people. I knew them. My friends, neighbors."
Endris: "Drathas … son, is that you?"
Drathas: "Father! You're alive! I'm here now."
Endris: "How are you here? Who are these people?"
Lyranth: "Every moment we wait, we lose time. I fulfilled my end, Drathas. I must get that lockbox."
Drathas: "Friend, I must stay with my father. Finish the deal. Find Baron Zaudrus and get the lockbox."

You can then talk to Drathas:

"I know we came this far together, and I know the debt to Lyranth is mine. But I can't lose my father.
Please, go with her. Find what she seeks. We can talk later."

Once Baron Zaudrus has been defeated in the Exalted Summit, Drathas will meet you there, along with his father.

Drathas: "You killed him. The monster responsible for all this suffering. It's over."
Lyranth: "Drathas has his father. Now you must complete the deal. Let us speak."

After you speak with Lyranth and turn in the quest, you'll hear Endris' words to his son, which Lyranth will interrupt, so Drathas can open the lockbox and fulfill his part of the deal:

Endris: "I am proud of you Drathas. I thought for sure my death was near. Never did I imagine you capable of such strength."
Drathas: "Thank you, father. My friends helped me more than I can say."
Lyranth: "A touching reunion indeed. But you must fulfill the bargain, Drathas."
Drathas: "Yes, of course. One moment."
Drathas: "Ah ha! Easy enough."
Drathas: "Here you are. Seems to be a map?"
Lyranth: "Adequate work. I hope our paths never cross again."

After this, you can ask Drathas about his father and his future:

"We did it. After everything we saw, I felt that maybe we'd find my father dead. But we saved him.
I can't take credit for too much. You did so much for both of us. I'm eternally in your debt."
What will you do next?
"I want to lock away this accursed place forever. But before that I need to get my father out of here and check to see if anyone else is still alive.
As for my village … I don't know how many are left. We might need to start again somewhere else."
How is your father?
"Alive. I can't ask for much more. We can heal his injuries with some potions and some rest. But if I'd lost him I would never recover."
