The Shadow's EmbraceEdit
When you meet with Elder Erthor, you will need to approach him the right way to convince him to turn from Molag Bal.
- "This is a great privilege, allowing you to stand here. Never before has an outsider been permitted to set foot on this platform. My daughter, however, was insistent that we speak with you.
We shall hear what you have to say." - Faraniel said that a contract binds you to Molag Bal.
- "Yes, we have sworn to protect the passage that leads to the tower known as the Lightless Oubliette. In exchange, we have been given the gift of shadow-walking.
When our contract is fulfilled, the Daedric Prince shall send us back to Valenwood." - I understand your situation, but with all due respect, I think you have been tricked.
- "Respect is a luxury I cannot afford. I need proof that Molag Bal lies to us. Do you have such proof? Can you show it to me?"
- My lord, even now Molag Bal actively works to destroy Nirn. There will be no Valenwood to return to.
- "I have heard your words and shall think upon them. Please, speak to the other elders and tell them of your fears and concerns."
- I see how well that's worked out so far. What's a few hundred years when you're having fun, right?
- "Heh, well, yes. We still await our day of release. Hundreds of years, however, do not mean much in a place where lives are measured in eternity.
What makes you think Molag Bal will break our agreement?" - I never trust anyone who decorates Valenwood and the rest of Nirn with Daedric anchors.
- "You have a wit about you and your words have given me much to consider. Have a care, though. Valenwood was once my home.
Speak to the other elders while I think about this."
- "Heh, well, yes. We still await our day of release. Hundreds of years, however, do not mean much in a place where lives are measured in eternity.
- You're a fool to think Molag Bal will ever allow you to leave.
- "You are a guest of this council and you insult me? I will not abide such disrepect, outsider.
Now tell me. Why do you believe that Molag Bal would renege on our agreement?" - Open your eyes! Even now, Molag Bal destroys Nirn, and you sit here in a prison of your own making.
- "So you say. But your words carry an insolence and a rudeness I must consider, as well.
I shall think about what you have said. Talk to the other elders. Share your so-called wisdom with them and we shall see what comes of it."
- "You are a guest of this council and you insult me? I will not abide such disrepect, outsider.
If you speak to him again before the others, he'll say:
- "Speak to my fellow elders and state your case.
We will convene when you are done to discuss our options."
After you've spoken to each of the elders, he'll announce:
- Elder Erthor: "We have heard enough. Use the portal and return to my daughter's side. You have given us much to discuss, outsider."
If you speak to him before leaving, he'll only say:
- "You have given us much to consider, outsider. Please return to the Moonless Walk. We shall come to you after a decision has been reached."
After you've gone through the portal and spoken to Faraniel, he'll appear behind you and beckon you:
- Elder Erthor: "Outsider! Step forth and hear the decision of the council of elders."
Depending on how you spoke with each Elder, you may or may not have convinced them to aid you:
- "The council has discussed what you told us. Debated your words from every angle. Even drew upon Faraniel's arguments from past meetings.
Understand that we did not reach our decision lightly." - And what did you decide?

An Unusual CircumstanceEdit
If you side with the lamias, Erthor dies when they invade the council platform.
BugsEdit
- While there are four dead council members on the platform during An Unusual Circumstance, implying the entire council was killed, none match the physical appearance of Erthor as seen during The Shadow's Embrace. ?
