Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Amiro has new orders for you; the capture of two slaves, Heel-Kur and Lijarra, that have lately escaped from the Akamora egg mines. He is unhappy about the nature of this particular contract, but notes that it comes from the wife of a high-ranking noble, Vaveli Senim. Amiro suggests that you quietly let this contract fail, asking around the slaves and miners for the locations of the escapees, and helping them skip town. He warns you not to ask any guards, members of the Aravel or Senim family, or the mine overseer, Narsula Zuls.

You need to decide at this point whether you intend to help the slaves or capture them - capturing them unlocks Laalalvo's quests slightly earlier, and carries a different reward, while helping the slaves reveals the existence of the Twin Lamps organisation, beginning the vanilla game quest The Twin Lamps. If helping, head straight out to the mines. If not, talk to Laalalvo Irano in the guild's basement. She will express disappointment in Amiro and order you to report to the mine's overseer, Narsula Zuls, noting that this entire mission is likely a test of the guild's reliability.

The easiest way to the mines is to follow the road up the hill from the Fighters Guild to the watchtower, keeping an eye out for broken stone steps leading down on the right - following this path takes you straight to the valley containing the mines. Alternatively, climb Akamora's central rock pillar to the entrance of the Morag Tong guildhall, and then cross the arching stone bridge to the east. From here on, your path will change depending on whether you want to bring the slaves in, or help them out.

Bringing Back the SlavesEdit

Narsula Zuls, the foreman, is in the Aravel-Senim Egg Mine. While there are two entrances to this mine, you want the one at the southwestern end of the encampment area (said area is pictured), as the tunnel from that takes you directly to Narsula. She will reveal that the escaped slaves also took the key to all the slave bracers in the Aravel-Senim mine, and she is therefore very keen that this is returned.

Asides from Narsula, speaking to the guards and wandering Dunmer will reveal two areas worth searching, the Indaren-Veri egg mine at the north end of the valley (where you most likely entered), and the Tiranat-Parys at the south end. Most pin their bets on the slaves being at the southern end, and you should head there to question the occupants of that mine, who will direct you to Ervona Nethani, deeper inside. Deeply apathetic at worst, and overworked at best, she requires 70+ disposition to tell you where the slaves went. Bribe or charm her, and she will reveal that the slaves were seen running towards the Miner Residence Hut.

Leave the mine, and follow the road west, up into the hills until you reach the Miner's Residence. Here you will find Heel-Kur and Lijarra. Talk to them, and tell them that you intend to bring them in. This will allow you to force bracers onto Heel-Kur, but Lijarra will turn hostile and have to be killed. Depending on your version of the release, the key to the bracers will either be on the crates by Lijarra's bracers, or carried for you by Heel-Kur.

Escort Heel-Kur back to the Aravel-Senim Egg Mine (again, enter through the entrance on the southwest side of the encampment) and speak to Narsula. She will ask for the key, which you can hand over, to her delight. After this, make your way back to Amiro for 1,000 gold. You will have upset him, but raised your standing with Laalalvo.

(As an alternative to telling the slaves you will take them in, and being forced to kill Lijarra, you can simply offer to help them, and then speak to a guard at any time to reveal their location. The reward will still be 1,000 gold).

Helping the SlavesEdit

This is more difficult than bringing the slaves in, purely because there are far fewer individuals that you can safely talk to. One such is Fin-Tei, a slave wandering the mine encampment (pictured), who will point you south. Following his direction will take you to the entrance of the Tiranat-Parys egg mine.

Speak to Dunel Githrano in the mine on the topic of 'absconded from the Akamora egg mines'. He will point you in the direction of Ervona Nethani, who has more to say (provided her disposition is above 70), which may take a small bribe. She will note that the slaves were seen running west. Exit the mine, and follow the western road up into the hills, until you reach the Miner's Residence. Enter it, and speak to Heel-Kur and Lijarra, who are hiding here.

Heel-Kur is the more talkative. If you offer to help, he will ask you to either bring them two Quality Potions of Invisibility (higher levels will do fine also), or to drop the Aravel-Senim slave key he gives you in the Indaren-Vary mine (at the far north end of the valley), and give a false tip-off to the guards. The invisibility route is the 'best' one, as it allows you to free the slaves without revealing the involvement of the Fighters Guild.

Note that at this point, you can choose to turn the two in by speaking to any of the guards. You can also use the key to free the other slaves in the Aravel-Senim mine, although this will result in your expulsion from the Fighters Guild.

If taking the false tip-off route, drop the Aravel-Senim slave key in the Indaren-Vary mine, and then talk to the guard at the junction by the Tiranat-Parys Egg Mine about the absconded slaves. You can tell that guard about the key, and they will leave their post. Return to Heel-Kur and let him know the coast is clear.

Return to Amiro to complete the quest. He will reward you with the Silver Spear of Scorching Storm. Laalalvo will be aware of your actions, whether or not you informed her, but will be marginally less displeased if you've avoided speaking to any guards, nobles or the foreman about the slaves while completing the quest. She will direct you to Circus Leonos, being uncertain that you are ready to receive orders from her.

Quest StagesEdit

Conflict of Interest (TR_m2_FG_Amiro3)
Index Finishes Quest Journal Entry
10 The Fighters Guild has been contracted to catch two slaves who have absconded from the Akamora egg mines: an Argonian named Heel-Kur, and a Khajiit called Lijarra. However, Amiro is not a supporter of slavery, and has urged me to give the slaves a chance to escape while maintaining plausible deniability. If I choose to help the slaves rather than catch them I should not talk to guards or anyone from the houses Senim and Aravel, who own the mine, about the missing slaves.
11 Laalalvo Irano, the guildmaster of the Akamora Fighters Guild, has warned me about taking Amiro's instructions to heart. If the slaves manage to escape with my help, the reputation of the Fighters Guild will be damaged. She urged me not to help the slaves.
20 A miner from the Tiranat-Parys egg mine has seen an Argonian and a Khajiit running west bound in the direction of the Miner's Residence hut.
30 I have found the two slaves hiding in the Miner's Residence hut.
40 I have offered Heel-Kur assistance with his and Lijarra's escape. I am either to bring the slaves two invisibility potions (quality or higher), or to distract the guard stationed at the crossing by dropping the slave bracer key in the Indaren-Veri egg mine and tipping him off. The latter, however, might eventually recoil against the Guild.
50 I have dropped the slaves' key in the Indaren-Veri egg mine.
55 The false trail has been laid. I should return to Lijarra and Heel-Kur in their hut.
58 The guard at the crossing is now distracted... for good. This is likely the best chance Heel-Kur and Lijarra are going to get; I should let them know. With some luck, I might even avoid taking the fall for it.
60 With my help, Lijarra and Heel-Kur have fled Akamora.
70 I have given Lijarra and Heel-Kur potions of invisibility.
100 Finishes quest  Amiro was delighted to hear that I decided to help the slaves escape. Laalalvo was less enthuastic, but gave me credit for doing it discreetly. I am to get further work directly from her or from Circus Leonos.
120 Finishes quest  Amiro was delighted to see that I have not let loyalty overshadow my judgment; however, Laalalvo did not agree, and has removed my equipment chest allegedly in order to compensate for the losses I brought about for the Fighters Guild. I should get my next orders from Circus Leonos; Laalalvo does not yet consider me capable of her tasks.
140 Finishes quest  Amiro was delighted to see that I have not let loyalty cloud my judgment; however, Laalalvo was infuriated about the way I handled the job, and told me that the Guild has lost the trust of the Houses Aravel, Senim, Indaren and Veri. She has revoked my access to the equipment chest and told me I'll need to regain her trust by working with Circus Leonos.
160 Finishes quest  While I have done my job to the probable delight of Amiro, he was nowhere to be found when I returned to the Guild. Instead, Laalalvo was furious. Looks like freeing the remaining slaves with the stolen key was too much. There are no more orders for me in Akamora.
200 I have forced Heel-Kur to come with me. Lijarra didn't take well to returning and had to be killed. Now I should bring Heel-Kur back to the Aravel-Senim mine.
203 Heel-Kur has arrived at the mine. I should talk to Narsula, the overseer.
205 I have turned Heel-Kur in. Amiro won't be very happy, but I should get the payment for the contract.
210 I have betrayed Heel-Kur and Lijarra to the guards. They will take care of tracking them down. Amiro won't be very happy, but at least I will get the payment for the contract.
211 I have betrayed Heel-Kur and Lijarra to the owners of the mine. They will take care of tracking them down. Amiro won't be very happy, but at least I will get the payment for the contract.
220 Reluctantly, Amiro has given me the bounty for this job. Further orders are available from Circus Leonos and Laalalvo Irano.
221 Finishes quest  Laalalvo Irano was delighted to see that I didn't let Amiro sway me into letting the slaves escape.
240 Heel-Kur is dead. I have probably failed my mission both from Amiro's and from Laalalvo's perspective.
250 Finishes quest  Amiro and Laalalvo were seriously disappointed with my work. I will no longer receive orders from the Akamora Fighters Guild, nor will I be supplied with free equipment in Akamora ever again.
