Detailed WalkthroughEdit
A friend of Muran Samarys, named Garnas Mano, has arrived from Silgrad. Muran wishes for you to speak with him about Salothas' Dagger. This is a dagger that was used by an individual who once tried to kill - but then tried to teach - Saint Rilms. It is treasured by the Tribunal Temple and House Redoran alike, and the Redoran Garnas has come to retrieve it.
You'll find Garnas in the Ald Iuval temple. He tells the tale of the dagger, and notes that he believes it is held in the Daedric Shrine of Bessarnamidan. He also notes that Hleras Selaro wishes to have a word with you. You don't need to speak to Hleras, but it can make the fight ahead easier.
Hleras' RequestEdit
Speak to Hleras. He's in the entrance room of the temple. His concern is maintaining the Temple's appearance of neutrality. He therefore wishes for you to recruit warriors of both House Hlaalu and House Redoran to clear the cultists from Bessarnamidan. His theory is that this will help disguise the acquisition of the relic and the giving of it to a Redoran. To this end, he asks that you approach Ivul Hleryn of Hlerynhul and Felmaru Llendu of Ald Iuval to request the help of their forces.
If you wish to, seek out these individuals. Felmaru is in the Redoran Council Hall of Ald Iuval. You need to either have 50+ disposition with her, or else be of Lawman rank or higher in House Redoran in order to convince her. She'll send a warrior named Nidara Beris to Bessarnamidan once convinced.
Ivul Hleryn is slightly further afield, being at the Hleryn Estate in Hlerynhul. He needs 65+ disposition in order to send support, or else Lawman rank or higher in House Hlaalu. Once he agrees, he will dispatch Eralas Raram to Bessarnamidan.
To BessarnamidanEdit
Bessarnamidan is east of the River Thirr and will have been marked on your map on speaking to Garnas. Go there. If you followed Hleras' suggestion, you'll find any extra military support that you managed to recruit waiting outside. Talk to them about fight together to have them follow and help you as you clear the ruin.
You'll find the target of this quest in the Shrine area (not the Silken Sanctum where Yathosil dwells). It's on a table in the northwestern corner of the statue room. Grab it. Once ready to leave the dungeon (you don't need to kill everyone in it) return to Garnas with the dagger for 300 gold. Then speak to Muran to complete the quest. He'll pass on rewards from both Ivul Hleryn and Felmaru Llendu if you enlisted their support - see below.
The Great House rewardsEdit
A script titled TR_m7_AI_TT_5_Sc tracks the status of your military support from the two Great Houses during the purging of Bessarnamidan, with your ultimate reward from Muran depending on whether either/both houses joined you, and whether or not the supporting NPCs sent survived the attack.
You will always receive assorted gemstones (1x Sapphire, 1x Jade, 1x Ruby), a bottle of Cyrodiilic Brandy and a bottle of Twin Moons Wine if you enlisted House Hlaalu's help. You will receive an additional 2x Topaz if Eralas Raram survives.
You will always receive a Dreugh Sparkblade if you enlisted House Redoran's help. You will receive a Native Mar-Revul Bonemold Helm if Nidara Beris survives until the quest's completion.
