- Talk to Gindaman at the Firewatch Guild of Mages about Yamandalkal.
- Speak to Absolon in the College of Firewatch's Library Tower.
- Travel to Yamandalkal and deliver Absolon's message to Xivilai Tatho.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Gindaman has what he describes as a dangerous task for you. He requires that you go to Yamandalkal on Althoa and treat with the Xivilai there, known as Tatho. He reveals that the guild maintains an outpost on Nivalis in large part to monitor Xivilai Tatho's activities. He will tell you to speak to the academic (and previous messenger), Absolon, at the College of Firewatch before your departure.
Speaking to AbsolonEdit
The College is across the square from the Mages guildhall, and Absolon can be found in the Library Tower. The door to this is secured by a level 100 lock, unless you have previously gained entry, and in fact, only members of the Faculty and College are permitted access.
If you have nimble fingers, you can obtain a copy of the key from the lecturers, Adrieldan and Tedyne Llarom. Otherwise, you will need to enroll in the college to access the tower. Speak to Marilus Arjus near the main entry to achieve this. Asking him about enroll, without any bounty attached to your head, and with a Speechcraft skill of 25+, and he will permit you to enroll in a college class on the provision of a one-time fee of 1,000 gold for 'Principles of Alchemy', and 1,500 gold for any other course. Critically, he will also provide you with a copy of the Firewatch College Library Key.
Once you have access to the library, speak to Absolon there about Yamandalkal. He'll express his disapproval of Gindaman's arrangement with Xivilai Tatho, warn you that the shrine of Yamandalkal will be guarded by hostile daedra, and will impart a message for you to deliver to the Daedra.
YamandalkalEdit
Travel now to Yamandalkal, on Althoa (the island where Nivalis is sited). The fastest route is to take the guild guide to Nivalis, as Yamandalkal is only a short way to the southeast from that settlement. Expect hostiles both outside and in. You will find the first section comprises of two floors (the higher one overlooking the lower). The door to Yamandalkal, Sanctum is on the lower floor, and is barred by a level 75 lock. The Weathered Key you need to unlock it is on a shelf on the top floor (pictured).
Inside the Sanctum, you will be greeted by high level cultists and Daedra. The Scroll of Forbidden Domination, obtained on the previous quest in this line, is intended to help here - be sure to use it if you are struggling in the fight, as the Devourer in particular can chew through the other enemies. Once you've cleared the sanctum, speak to Xivilai Tatho, who stands beneath the shrine to Mehrunes Dagon.
Xivilai TathoEdit
A formidably powerful Daedra, Xivilai Tatho will hear Absolon's message with contempt, and reply with the word YASHAZ. That is all you need to bring to Gindaman. However, the xivilai isn't done with you, and asks if you will hear its offer. If you agree, it will offer you a bargain - bring Absolon to Xivilai Tatho in this shrine, and the xivilai will reward you with a summoning spell unknown by mortals for centuries (or so it claims). This begins the quest Deal with a Devil.
Regardless of whether you heard Absolon's offer or not, return to Gindaman to complete this quest and receive your reward - the Sword of the Eye of the World, a blade which detects enchantment and fortifies Illusion. Gindaman will have more duties for you - beginning the events of Double Agent.

Arch-Mage Gindaman was glad to hear that the message delivery to Yamandalkal was accomplished without issue. As a reward for delivering the Odylic Mage's message and returning with the new one, the Arch-Mage gave me a Sword of the Eye of the World. |
