Tamriel Unlimited — January 21, 2015
ZeniMax Online has announced an end to ESO's subscription model, as well as a release date for PS4 and Xbox One. The new model will be known as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, and will go live on PC and Mac starting March 17. A one-time purchase of the game is still required for new players, but a monthly subscription is no longer needed. The console versions are due for release on June 9, and require Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership to play.
In the wake of paid subscriptions comes the Crown Store and ESO Plus. The Crown Store will be an in-game microtransaction store for purchasing future DLC and items using "crowns". ESO Plus is a premium subscription which will give access to all DLC, recurring crowns, and a 10% bonus to XP, gold drops, crafting research and crafting inspiration. Current subscribers will have any remaining game time converted into an ESO Plus subscription, and players will be given crowns based on the number of months they've been subscribed. To celebrate the announcement, ZeniMax have released the final part of the ESO cinematic.
