OBNPCRPEdit

Hey Helenaannevalentine! Thank you so much for your tireless work on the OBNPCRP – just wanted to explain the rules, to justify why I reverted your first edit to the Avita Vesnia page – and why there’s no real reason to re-add your contribution. Basically, the OBNPCRP is all about writing/checking by two different people, in two different ways. In this case, I wrote her inventory from the game – and it should then be checked using the CS. So you can’t really do an in-game check on something that was already written from the game. It will be reverted, sooner or later, simply due to the guidelines.

No worries, I’m right behind you, so all your previous checks has been cross-checked in the CS, but in some cases, a real CS expert should take a look. Avita Vesnia is one of those cases. Her article is very detailed about her various inventory changes, and it is important to get it all 100% correct. The CS-checker will also discover bugs and stuff, so that’s an important part of the process. So there you have it. Please do the in-game checking for something that was written from the CS – and everything is fine. If you have questions about specific NPCs, I can help out; just holler on my talk page. Keep up the good work, and thanks again. --Krusty 23:51, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Deletion/Edit SummariesEdit

Hey Helena—

I just want to let you know that generally it is not a good idea to delete things from your talk page, as you did with Eric Snowmane's Welcome notice. It's important to leave conversations up to give other editors/admins an idea of what's been going on with you and on your talk page. If your talk page gets to long, message me and I can help you create an archive, but removing topics completely isn't ok. It is also important to leave accurate Edit Summaries to help out our Patrollers and Userspace Patrollers. Thank you! —SkoomaManiac 04:25, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I didn't realize that it was not okay to delete off the talk-page, sometimes I have a habit of trying to 'tidy' any pages I have in any website, I didn't mean to do something I wasn't clearly supposed to do. And sure thing, I will get onto doing edit summaries once I have spare time since I just started studies again. Thanks, Helenaannevalentine 04:51, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
It's ok, and it was a relatively minor post, but I just wanted to point it out while I was thinkin about it. Also, an edit summary is the bar above save page. In it you summarize what you've done before saving the page. It's not a complicated task and it won't take time away from your studies. :) -SkoomaManiac 04:53, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks again, and I always wondered what that bar actually was, because I didn't want to touch it just in-case I screwed anything up if I changed the contents inside. Better to be on the safe side, but thanks for letting me know! Helenaannevalentine 04:56, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Helenaannevalentine, it is perfectly fine to remove anything you wish from your own talk page. The only thing you cannot remove are official warnings or blocks, which you don't have. You could remove this entire discussion if you wish. :) elliot (talk) 02:45, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Just to confuse you further, I'm going to back up both respondents here. :) It is absolutely okay to remove anything you wish from your talk page (except official notices, as Elliot mentioned), and in fact a great many people remove the welcome notice or other "trivial" notices, sometimes within moments of their being posted. That said, SkoomaManiac isn't far off: for most messages of any substance, it's usually encouraged that you archive them instead of deleting them, but in the end, that choice is entirely yours, whether it's a trivial post, an important one, or the entire page. Robin Hoodtalk 03:15, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks guys! This clears up the whole thing and I now understand what I can and can't delete. Of course, I wouldn't delete anything with official stuff like warnings etc, cause that's the really important stuff for people to know. Thanks! Helenaannevalentine 02:57, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

CampsitesEdit

Hey Helenaannevalentine! I noticed you've been making some headway on the Shivering Isles camps. I was wondering what you're using to write the articles: in-game or CS verification? It would be useful to know when me or Krusty get around to checking the articles (we were working together on the Oblivion camps a while back). Keep up the good work! --Legoless 23:01, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! I have in fact been using the in-game to do my walkthroughs, but I was hoping that someone with CS could check them and add in perhaps percentages of some items appearing (if there is any that come across in the camps). Because of course with the in-game verification, you can't possibly know the percentage of some specific items appearing.
Also, perhaps maybe like the NPC characters section that I know Krusty is working on also in the Shivering Isles Redesign Project, we could alter the table so that both someone with CS and in-game can verify the Shivering Isles camps? Just an idea Helenaannevalentine 23:12, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I'd be happy to check the camps in the CS whenever I have the time, but I'm incredibly busy at the moment. The places redesign template isn't as great as the NPC one, but if you want you can add "(in-game)" after your name. --Legoless 23:22, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Cool, that would be great, because of course whether someone does the walk-through in CS or in-game, it's best to check using both. And I'll get onto putting "(in-game)" after my name, just so it helps out with people checking the walkthroughs. Thanks again Helenaannevalentine 23:26, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Also, if you notice any shortcomings in the Places Redesign template, like maybe you think it'd be a good idea to add verification of the number of light sources (to pick a stupid example), let me know. The first such parameter other than writtenby might take longer, but once the pattern is started, that sort of thing normally only takes a few seconds to change. Robin Hoodtalk 00:47, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Will do. Best thing is trying to improve the website's functionality and information, making sure it's all correct and such. Thanks for the heads up! Helenaannevalentine 00:50, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Cookie!Edit

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

This is for your tireless effort with all the complex NPCs, places and camps of OB and SI - so nice to see them get some well-deserved and qualified attention, especially these days! :) Keep up the good work! --Krusty 07:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Awwww, this is really sweet, thank you very much Krusty for acknowledging the hard work! Helenaannevalentine 21:45, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Greeting new usersEdit

Hello! I saw that you greeted numerous users just now. I'll copy what Dwarfmp told me about 2 weeks ago:

"Welcoming users is a nice thing to do, but please don't welcome user who haven't made any edits. There are many people who sign up and never use their account (or at least never edit), welcoming every user would clog up the recent changes and create a lot of unnecessary pages. There have been discussions (or at least A discussion) on this in the past without a clear policy being brought up, but seeing as welcoming people who've made at least 1 edit would prevent clogging up, that seems playing it safe to me. If you feel like I'm putting you "in your place", so to speak, don't worry about it, because I used to welcome every new user for a while too ~ Dwarfmp"

Just thought I should let you know! ?• JATalk 03:15, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Hello there! Sorry about that mishap, just in spite of things, I thought for some of them it would be handy for them to know the basic welcomes incase they decide to start with editing and such. Dwarfmp's logic actually does make more sense now, I never actually heard about that notice as I have been inactive over the past couple of weeks, but I will learn from that and only give out the welcome notices to those new users who have begun to make contributions towards the editing of this site. Better to hear this now, so I know not to do it anymore in the future. Thanks! Helenaannevalentine 03:21, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Sure thing! I did the same exact thing. Also, I really like your top banner. However, on narrow windows, the indenting forces the image off the side of the page. I think you're trying to center it, so to have it work with all window widths, use this:
Hyperlink<
. If you're trying to get it to stay on one side of the page, then instead do this:
Hyperlink
. Replace side with left or right, depending on what side you want it to float on. ?• JATalk 03:27, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks again! For most instances, I like to change things every so often, and decided to 'spruce' up my talk-page a bit. Sometimes I am also 'challenged' with certain formatting structures, as some sites are different from others and such. But thank you again for helping to notice that issue with my banner! - Helenaannevalentine 03:39, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Userspace PatrollerEdit

Hi Helena. I've been noticing your edits while I've been patrolling, and they seem to be both accurate and have good grammar/spelling. Would you consider becoming a Userspace Patroller as a possible prelude to becoming a full Patroller? If you have any questions about it, please feel free to ask me or any of the existing Patrollers or Userspace Patrollers. Robin Hoodtalk 04:45, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

Hey there, thanks for noticing my edits, it's good that it's noticed in small ways here and there. I actually am already a Userspace Patroller, I applied for it awhile ago and it got accepted. I've never actually thought about becoming a full Patroller though. What is the differences between the two, despite the obvious? Thanks Helenaannevalentine 05:08, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
D'oh! My mistake, sorry. I wasn't paying attention. :) You actually qualify to become a full Patroller right now. Probably the biggest difference between the two, apart from the obvious, is that in gamespace, you have to verify any changes to article content for accuracy. That doesn't mean you have to verify every last thing you look at, of course, but if you can't confirm accuracy either in-game or through the Construction Kit, then you should leave the edit for someone else to patrol (who hopefully can verify it). That and you get to change your userbox. ;)
Oh and if you don't have Skyrim, that's okay too...you can always just stick to patrolling the grammar and spelling edits or the talk page edits. That's what I did for the first several weeks until I got it. Robin Hoodtalk 05:33, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll definitely apply for it after I've finished editing the unnecessary bold marks I've found in the Dark Brotherhood quests. There's quite a few of them out there! Also, I don't have Skyrim at the moment, but I'm hoping to get it when I'm over in Australia in July later this year, or perhaps earlier if it ever comes down in price. Thanks again, cause without you notifying me of this, I would have never really taken it into consideration! Helenaannevalentine 05:36, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

PatrollingEdit

In case you've stopped watching my page after your last reply, I've left you an edit there from one of my alternate accounts so that you can actually see what the button looks like and patrol the edit. Robin Hoodtalk 07:00, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I just went offline for the night and just did a quick edit to your doppelganger account and removed it. It seems all my user-space patrols are automatic, so I reckon since you said that because I'm a Userspace Patroller, and that I can only patrol userspaces, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I also took the liberty of removing the post of your doppelganger account, so that no other PAtrollers get a hold of it. You've been such a great help, even though I just woke up right now, and some of my ramblings might not make...as much sense :) Helenaannevalentine 21:02, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I had meant that you'd be able to see what the manual "Mark as patrolled" button looks like where it is, etc., as I got the impression from your message that you were never seeing it. If you want me to make another edit to User space, let me know. Robin Hoodtalk 22:04, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I have never seen it when I'm personally over-viewing a page. I've heard it mentioned several times, and only ever seen an 'example' of it that someone was using as an example somewhere. It's weird though, because shouldn't it show regardless? Helenaannevalentine 22:29, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
No, it only shows if the edit actually needs to be Patrolled. If you look at that edit, it should still be unpatrolled, so you can patrol it. Robin Hoodtalk 23:06, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Well something finally worked. The button finally appeared for me, and I marked it as patrolled. This was seriously bugging me all day! Thank you, you've made my day! Helenaannevalentine 23:34, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Happy BirthdayEdit

You have been given a Sweetcake!

Best wishes! --Legoless 23:06, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you so much Legoless! I'm so dedicated to the editing that I even edit at school ... and on my birthday. Thanks again, I was getting a bit hungry here :) Helenaannevalentine 23:12, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
Happy Birthday! Robin Hoodtalk 01:12, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
Hope you've had a great birthday! --Velyanthe 01:15, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
Thank you all for the birthday wishes, it means a lot, despite the day ending badly :) Helenaannevalentine 03:05, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

() Sorry to hear your day went badly. However, I wish you the best just the same. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:07, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Marking edits as patrolledEdit

Hey, I'd like to point out a guideline here about marking questions as patrolled on talk pages. Usually it's best to not patrol a talk page question unless it has been answered, including direct questions to Patrollers or Admins on their talk pages; I notice that you patrolled one on my own talk page, and have done so on other talk pages. Since you're planning (I assume you still are) to become a full Patroller in the future, it would be good to note that you should not mark unanswered questions on regular article talk pages as patrolled unless they have been answered, as a similar guideline. --Velyanthe 23:38, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that, sometimes I have a habit of doing multiple things at once and I don't normally always see whether it is a talk-page or not with a question left unanswered. I'll note this for the future and be more careful, thanks for the heads up Helenaannevalentine 23:56, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
