DialogueEdit
Good morning, Manavortex,
We really appreciate you adding dialogue for NPCs, but we do prefer that they go on the appropriate NPC page to avoid clutter and to make it easier for visitors to browse. See Provost Varuni Arvel for an example of quest-specific dialogue with a character and Drops-No-Glass for NPCs with no quest dialogue. Thank you, and I hope you don't mind if I annotate your dialogue to adhere to our guidelines. --Vyraesi (talk) 11:12, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- Morning,
- I originally thought I'd create own dialogue pages to avoid to clutter the NPC pages :D I'll relocate!
- No problem! Also, I've moved the dialogue temporarily to your own sandbox at User:Manavortex/Sandbox, so you can collate all your dialogue, keep a draft there, and publish it on the article when you're ready. This will avoid any editors editing it or deleting anything before its ready as its your page.
- We also have formatting guidelines for our dialogue, which I'll quickly show you just in case you're unaware. For dialogue where two NPCs are talking, we have the character names in bold and the speech in italics.
'''Jeff:''' ''"Hello, Maria."''
'''Maria:''' ''"Long time, no see."''
-
- That will create:
- Jeff: "Hello, Maria."
- Maria: "Long time, no see."
With player and NPC dialogue we use bold for the player character and italics for the NPC. < br > (without the spaces) creates a line break.
:''"Hello, Maria. <br> It has been a long time coming, but I've finally devised a plan."''
'''Really? What is it?'''
-
- That will create:
- "Hello, Maria.
It has been a long time coming, but I've finally devised a plan." - Really? What is it?
As you can see, its easier to follow, and hopefully this helps you. We'd love you to stick around and keep contributing! :D --Vyraesi (talk) 11:35, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hey,
- yeah, I'm planning to. I'm currently obsessively stalking Laloriaran because I have emoted him a few times for RP events (nothing major, as he's not my character, but since he's the commander of Hollow City's army, he debriefed some characters once or twice), and wanted to get more familiar with his speech patterns and mannerisms (he hasn't told me off yet.)
- I've tried to find the guidelines, but the search yielded no results. The part with the sandbox is good to know!
- As for the current state of affairs, I've chosen to invert the formatting for the sake of readability. Since almost everything is dialogue, I rather put the stuff that's not in italic. Is that okay? ~ manavortex 11:47, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- Also, I want to include / link to a few more pictures of the guy. Since this is a wiki I might as well use it as brain dump - I'm gathering all the intel somewhere, and this way other people can profit as well. How do I best do that? I don't want to turn his poor wiki page into a flickr gallery, so - should I upload them as media and include them as links? Or should I create an external gallery somewhere, and link to that? — Unsigned comment by Manavortex (talk • contribs) at 12:05 on 11 January 2018

- Upload them here, using the naming style of ON-npc-Laloriaran 02.jpg then add them to the page with [[File:ON-npc-Laloriaran 02.jpg|thumb|right|Image description or quote]]. Pictures in ESO are a bit harder to get, though it also depends on the eventual length of the page as to how many images are appropriate. A page like Delphine from Skyrim is very long, and has 35 images not including the one at the top, while my estimate of Provost Arvel would be about 12 images before it started to look like too many. But as I said, ESO npcs don't move around that much so there might not be that many possible anyway. You could also upload some that are good for the quest pages. The Help:Contents page has links to our Images, Editing, Tables, Formatting, and Style Guide, all pages that should help you create a fantastic page. - Awesome. Will do. I wanted to have at least a face close up since I sometimes go bonkers about not knowing which exact eye colours people have. Yes, it's me. ~ manavortex 21:51, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Rules of Eldrich BindingEdit
Hi. The way we handle mentioned texts is to list them on Lore:Library#Mentioned_Texts. We usually link the to the source book on this page, and not Books by Author, where they are remained un-linked so as to distinguish them from the proper, full books. --Jimeee (talk) 16:33, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
- Saw it right after I made the request. Thanks for your patience.
