User talk:Timeoin
Hello Timeoin! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:
- Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! JackTurbo95 11:38, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Only way to talkEdit
Since your henchmen have made sure I can't talk to you direct, I'll post this here.
You are utterly unimportant when it comes to TESWiki. I can no more sue you than sue Jimmy Wales' milkman. I'm not interested in sueing anyone in any case: the point I've been making - and that neither you nor your henchmen have been able to contest - is that the theft goes only one way. TESWiki has copied hundreds of UESP's images and articles while there has been next to nothing - in fact nothing - in return. FACT: our content is better than yours and your pisspoor editors want to copy it.
Since you've set yourself up as #1 over there, prove me wrong. Unfortunately that will mean creating original content, and that doesn't appear to be one of your strengths. rpeh •T•C•E• 04:18, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for the eager patrolling!Edit
Timeoin, sorry I realized at the same time I corrected your edit, that you might well be checking and changing the edit yourself, and this was indeed the case :p Hugs, Tib (talk) 22:01, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Hey TimEdit
Lol, just saying hi there...

Edit SummariesEdit
Hey Timeoin, thanks for your edits; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits without using the Edit Summary box. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, and edits with no edit summary make this task more difficult. Our patrollers really appreciate it when you use these. Thank you. Holomay (talk) 08:09, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
Test PageEdit
Hey Timeoin, you have created a test/sandbox page in the Online namespace. I'm going to mark it for deletion, so please have a look at it in case you want to move the content to a personal sandbox. :) Holomay (talk) 18:04, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- Err... wait I did? Yes, please delete. I used a new tab to keep the format whilst i made goblin pages. Must have accidentally created page. :/ Timeoin (talk) 20:50, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

- No problem! :) I've moved your reply here. Usually, discussions are kept on the page where they've been started so it's easier to follow them instead of jumping back and forth between two pages. --Holomay (talk) 21:49, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- Okay. I did not know that (until now, obviously). Again - slight difference. It was considered rude to do so over there, as it means there is no big warning about a new message. (Which, I'll admit, I use to know if someone has replied to me :P) Timeoin (talk) 22:32, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- Tim, stop giving TESwiki a worse name than you know it deserves. The reason TESwiki preferred the other way was so that the other party also knew when you had read, and responded to his comment. I suppose that's what you need when people are busy contributing instead of just leaving messages on talkpages.77.251.18.96 22:11, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
- Um - I wasnt trying to be insulting? Its a difference, is all. Two different ways of doing it. Both have merit (the talkpage message popup vs clear lines of comminication). Teswikis way has in the past caused significant headaches searching through archives. Timeoin (talk) 05:47, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Just popping my head in.Edit
Hey Timeoin, Aquila here. Just popping my head in to see what UESP looks like, in general. Given from the messages you've gotten, I can see the "rivalry" between UESP and Fandom TES Wiki (Even when TESWiki Fandom doesn't really bother caring about any incoming feuds). So, just leaving a message to say Hi! Cheers!
PickpocketEdit
There's no need to fill in pickpocket info for NPCs that aren't Justice Neutral. Those fields default to being hidden when they aren't applicable, so adding "N/A" just bulks up the infobox. If we do want to make that change, it would be far better suited to get a bot to do it since there are thousands of pages involved and a patroller will have to go through every single one. —Legoless (talk) 19:44, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Orc/OrsimerEdit
For categorization and in general we use Orc rather than Orsimer. This is especially important in the infotables as it auto-adds them to the category based only on what is entered in the box. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:31, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
ESO TextEdit
Just to let you know, the data from the UespLog AddOn for ESO can be viewed here. It includes text from books so you can just copy and paste (only need to readd paragraph spaces). Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:42, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oh my gosh. That makes life a lot easier. (I was doing all that manually, as you probably noticed). I thought it only had the "npc" versions, which show where they are Timeoin (talk) 21:51, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- Some book entries appear to be, but on the ones I checked today, they were incorrect names, eg Freshly Penned Letter was blank, but Freshly-Penned Letter was not. The search function there checks against contents too, so if you see a blank one, try a unique looking line or word from what you see. All entries should be using the title shown in the Eiditic Memory in the log, which is also what we use if there is any discrepancies. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:52, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Book NotesEdit
First, if a note must be added to a book, you should use the {{note}} template and place it above the text with a split (to keep it from having the bigger text and appearing to be part of the book). Secondly notes on book pages should be kept to the absolute essential ones that cannot go anywhere else. Lastly notes such as ones about being better available via ESO patches are bordering on useless, given that there is no previous version of the game available to play (ie unlike Skyrim patches). The opposite type of note about needing to read a book before or at a certain point are the essential kind that need to be highlighted in order to help players. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:16, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- That's a really good point. Okay. I wont add (cos like you said, useless). Timeoin (talk) 13:20, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, the {{Non Book}} template. You may have seen it on Firuth's Writ, but its gone now because the situation for it has changed from non-inclusion to inclusion (a good example of what I was trying to convey). Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:26, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
College of Aldmeri ProprietyEdit
Hi! Just a quick question - do you plan to add the complete dialogues for the College of Aldmeri Propriety NPCs in the near future? Or are those there as placeholder texts? I know, I edit really randomly, but they were kinda on my list to complete soon - I can leave them to you of course ;) but then I would like to know if I can remove them from my list or not. Thanks! (It's really amazing how much you work on these pages.) Cailin (talk) 11:12, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
Harmony and HawksEdit
Hi, just want to let you know I tried it in vanilla Skyrim SE, with only the official survival mod active. Would not write the note if I was running any mods:) --SkyHiRider (talk) 11:13, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hawks are "fragile" things. Like many insects, you only need to hit them, meaning almost any magic or shout or weapon will do. Using Harmony is a waste of effort when novice spells (cheaper and easier to acquire) will do, as well as some easy to learn shouts. This information is on the hawk entry, the only page this is useful to know. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:11, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
PeopleEdit
Just a reminder about that community discussion, and where it stemmed from: separate pages for the people tables, then transclude them to the location pages. Also, if you split some of those "Others" sections in half, such as Suran, it makes the section look tidier. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:02, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
Welcoming messages and other standardised talk page messagesEdit
You might not be aware of the template page of standardised messages page that you can use? —MortenOSlash (talk) 06:52, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Umm... no. I legitimately wasn't aware of it (until now). Can anyone welcome, or should it be admin/staff that welcome? Timeoin (talk) 06:55, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
-
- Anyone. The only limit is that the account being welcomed should have made at least one constructive edit. You don't have to use the template either, it is handy because it has all the links that have been deemed useful to new accounts, and you can still personalise the template message even when you do use it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:00, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Okay. Cool. I'll use that in future :) Timeoin (talk) 20:09, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- By the way, you also have Prize Templates for more informally telling how much you appreciate other users' work. Not as fancy as the formal ones, but still nice. —MortenOSlash (talk) 15:14, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Quest StagesEdit
As per the old versions of http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:The_Mage%27s_Dog , this is not the correct way to write quest stages. Why not just copy the stages from an existing quest page and change the text inside? :p Since you probably already do copy other templates from there, it's quite hard to miss it in my opinion.
Regarding ESO XP, I saw you were confused about the correct XP value. If you click on the XP, it links you to the Leveling page http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Leveling#Experience and there is some information about multipliers. Shortly put, there's 3 of them - 1,1 for ESO Plus users, 4 for Enlightened XP and then the quest difficulty multiplier, which of course is 1 for the standard difficulty. (A huge majority of ESO quests have the standard difficulty, esp. in the latest DLCs) Tib (talk) 13:15, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Two parts here, so I shall replay one by one. First - The reason I didn't do it that way was I was sure some was missing (I was adding via datalog, which isnt complete).
Second part - the confusion again comes from datalog, as the "experience" coincides with nothing on the relevant rewards tables. Timeoin (talk) 21:16, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Yashurah edit?Edit
Hey man, just looking at a few of my old edits and noticed on the Online NPC Yashurah you added a note that she could previously be found in Alik'r Desert. Any sources on that? Idarak (talk) 15:04, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
External LinksEdit
Hi Timeoin, I notice you've been adding external links to ESO collection pages. External website links go at the bottom of an article if relevant (e.g. see ON:Trading Cards). News posts on the ESO website aren't all that relevant and shouldn't really be inserted into articles like that. —Legoless (talk) 20:44, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
NPC dialogue #6432345Edit
Hi. Dude, you edit like a thousand pages a day. I just realized (I mean, I probably noticed it earlier just not very actively) that some NPCs, where you don't get a dialogue screen when trying to activate them and mostly just say some generic "Hi" or "Hm?" or whatever, they sometimes DO have some quest-relevant lines in this format. (no dialogue screen, no subtitle, when trying to activate them next time they return to generic greetings...) ...like have you ever added these lines to pages? or noticed someone doing it? I felt like my brain is going to fall out when I realized how many NPCs I have tagged with "no dialogue" even though they still might have some of these random lines... Cailin (talk) 14:08, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
Item LinksEdit
Hi Timeoin, you have added item links to a set page, but there are parameters missing and the links do not work. Please have a look at Template:Item Link and the code of set pages with working links like Seventh Legion Brute to get an idea of how the template is used. Let me know if you need any further information. --Holomay (talk) 09:30, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Disambig LinksEdit
Good job on finding and correcting the links that shouldn't be. One point is that {{Lore Link}} should continue to be used on transcluded lore pages, there have been some very useful updates to it to make it link to the correct page in each namespace. I've redone your undone edits in the four lore books with the correct format, so you can see the linking in action. If you find or know of anymore incorrect links you can now do them without fear of "correction". Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 14:24, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
