The Fortress of Ice is a quest dungeon in TES: Arena. The Eternal Champion is sent there by a member of the Winterhold Mages Guild to retrieve a tablet that was stolen by some bandit knights. The table is said to be the final piece required to uncover the location of Labyrinthian, the place where the second piece of the Staff of Chaos is kept.

DescriptionEdit

The Fortress is a two-level dungeon, and true to its name, uses snow and ice assets as set-dressing.

On the first floor, the Champion encounters Snow Wolves, Ice Golems, and placeholder 'Warriors' that are meant to represent the knights that robbed the Guild caravan. Treasure can be found in different rooms. The right-most (from the entrance) area of the floor appears to be a dormitory, having beds and the most Warrior spawns. There is also an area that can be, very loosely, described as some kind of a temple, treasury or meeting hall, holding Snow Wolf spawns, a secret room, and some treasure. The access-way to the second floor is located close to the main entrance, one only needs the Passwall spell (see map below).

The second floor has a more maze-like layout, with several ditches that can take the Champion across the level, including to some inaccessible rooms (unless one knows Passwall or a similar spell). On this floor there are significantly fewer Ice Golems, but regular wolves spawn alongside their Snow brethren. In one particular area there is what appears to be a magic cage holding some treasure and three Hell Hounds (the "cage" isn't at all magical, it's apparently just for aesthetics). The tablet that the Champion was sent for is located in a room located on the far end of the map from the entrance. Access to the room is blocked by a magic - riddle - door, and inside, the tablet is guarded by an Ice Golem (one of the very few on this floor). Additionally, there is a large room with a big pool of water near the upper-center of the map. The far end of the room holds two treasure chests and one treasure pile. What's peculiar is that there is a cross-shaped platform levitating above the water.
