Lord Arox is an Ash Titan lieutenant once in service to Mehrunes Dagon. During his tenure, he earned many titles, including the Mutilator, the Terror of the Deadlands, the Sunderer of the Seven Skies, the Ruin of Varondo and the Warrior of the Floating Wastes.[1]
HistoryEdit
During the time of the Ayleids, an event known as the "Harrowing of Varondo" took place. Arox the Mutilator was present at the city the day it occurred, and burned down an army of Ayleids was "like dry grass in a wildfire" using his fiery breath, garnering him the title the "Ruin of Varondo".[1] He was also a part of the forces that aided Dagon in the destruction of Ald Sotha in the First Era;[1] Sotha Sil was the sole survivor, having been saved by Vivec.[2][3]
Arox at one point became the overseer of the Blood Pit, a terrible prison that Dagon sends his enemies to, until he was defeated by the Nokvroz of the Ruinblood Clan through the trickery. Reduced to the form of a Daedrat, he fled to the demiplane of Fargrave where he was captured by the Watcher Gazmond the Collector, who added Arox to his gallery.[1] Meanwhile, in Arox's absence, Ruinblood Clan came into power with the aid of the Firescourge Clan, who disposed of the Mindcleaver Clan,[4] and destroyed all evidence of their existence.[5]
Cica 2E 582, in seeking a translator to break a Dagonic code, Arox was rescued by the Vestige, the Anchorite and Lyranth the Foolkiller, the former who he pledged his fealty to.[1][6] Using Arox's knowledge of being the former overseer of the Blood Pits, he aided in the infiltration of the prison, allowing for the extraction of knowledge from the Moth Priest Elegian, which consisted on knowledge on the Riven Cataclyst, a device capable of transforming Daedra into living disasters.[7]
Shortly after infiltrating the Blood Pit, Arox accompanied the Vestige and Lyranth on an assault against Nokvroz's stronghold, Ardent Hope. During the assault, Lyranth surmised that a rod the Vestige was carrying contained Arox's true power, and breaking it would temporarily restore his Ash Titan form, but with the drawback of him being unable to be freed from the curse permanently. Regardless, Arox urged the Vestige to test Lyranth's theory, which turned out to be correct. The Vestige broke the rod and Arox aided the Rynkyus of the Bladebearer Clan in combat against Nokvroz's Dremora. [8]
