Lizard Men (or lizardmen) are bipedal lizard-like creatures, though once thought to be distant cousins of the Argonians, it was soon evident they had nothing "human" within them whatsoever. They are described as a race of carnivorous reptiles, whose use of language stretches only far enough to communicate the location of their prey to the rest of their hunting party, which then move in to attack and feed.[2] These creatures are easily identified as cold-blooded reptiles due their distinctive eyes, claws, fangs, and scales which glisten in the light. They have been identified with various pejoratives such as "reptilian humanoids", "man-beasts", and have been described as "a hybrid of a man and a dragon".[UOL 1] They are known to posses the ability to paralyze their opponents, and despite their bestial nature, they are capable of wielding axes and shields which they use to attack with and defend themselves.[3]
Lizard men were found all throughout Tamriel during the Imperial Simulacrum,[3] and were known to be among Jagar Tharn's legions.[4] Lizard men were also among the beasts that infested Stonekeep during its occupation by Goblins working for Golthog the Dark.[5] One was among the specimens in the Bestiary of the Crystal Tower.[6]
Despite the apparent lack of relation, "lizard men" is a pejorative term that is often synonymous with Argonians.[7][8][9][10]
