Zombies are undead with mottled, muddy green flesh, various deep and fatal-looking wounds, and they are often missing an arm. Zombies can be deceiving for players having not encountered one before, as they can run and give chase, and have a distinctive groaning voice when they detect prey. All zombies drop Mort Flesh (except for Deranged Zombies, which drop Bonemeal). They rely upon unarmed melee attacks, which are made more dangerous by the many diseases that zombies can carry. All zombies have the following weaknesses, resistances, and abilities:
- 60% weakness to fire
- 30% resist frost
- 100% resist poison (immune to poison)
- 30% resist magic
- permanent Water Breathing ability
Higher level zombies (Headless Zombies and Dread Zombies) have more health, more powerful attacks, and more dangerous diseases. Also, Dread Zombies are able to regenerate health. Zombies have a 25% chance of carrying one of the following diseases:
- Ataxia, Brown Rot, Dampworm, Droops, Greenspore, Helljoint, Rockjoint, Rust Chancre, Witbane
Headless zombies have a 33% chance of carrying one of the following diseases:
- Black-Heart Blight, Chanthrax Blight, Chills, Collywobbles, Rattles, Serpiginous Dementia, Swamp Fever, Wither, Yellow Tick
All dread zombies carry the disease Astral Vapors, which is particularly nasty because it causes Stunted Magicka, Weakness to Magic, and Damage Magicka. This effect ignores disease resistance (unless you have the Unofficial Oblivion Patch installed). Your magicka will not regenerate until you cure yourself.
