Detailed WalkthroughEdit

While wandering around the hot springs south of Ratmaster's Prowl, you'll find three naked Nords enjoying a soak. Talk to Dralof Waterwalker, who will invite you to relax and join them, but will also — indifferently — offer you a quest to find some bath salts.

"Shor's blood! You're a serious one, aren't you? Why not stop and enjoy the springs with us?"
What's your business here?
"Business? We have no business, stranger! No war, no Orcs, and no giants. We just relax and enjoy the hot springs.
But now that you mention it …."
What?
"My friend Grida heard about some special bath salts. They're made at the Darkwater Crossing apothecary. She went to get some, but she hasn't returned.
See if you can find her. Or better yet, just bring us those salts!"
I'll try to find your friend.
"Grida is too serious. Kind of like you. If you find her, great. If not, whatever. Don't worry about it."

Darkwater Crossing is to the southwest, but the apothecary you're looking for is north of the town across a small bridge. Follow your quest marker to the apothecary, where you'll find it has been ransacked. Grida is nowhere to be found, but you can find a note from her that lists the recipe for the bath salts. You'll need to collect all of the ingredients and grind them at the mill across the road. The Mudcrab Claws and Troll Fat can be found by killing mudcrabs or trolls respectively, which can be found in the ruins of Darkwater Crossing to the south. Daril is a bit harder to come by, as it's an Argonian toxin which you can only get by bartering with Laughs-at-Danger in the cave near Darkwater crossing. Either pay him a bribe or intimidate him to get the daril.

Once you have collected all of the ingredients, return to the mill. You'll meet a zombified Grida outside the mill, who tries to shout out a warning before she attacks. After you put her out of her misery, you can activate the millstone to get the Bath Salts. Return to Dralof to complete the quest.

You can tell Dralof about Grida's fate, but he seems supremely unconcerned about her or the fact that the bath salts will turn anyone into a zombie.

"You're back! Did you get the bath salts?"
I have the bath salts. And I found Grida.
"Really? Hand them over then! Let's get this party started!"
I don't think the bath salts are safe.
"They're bath salts! Next you'll tell me that mead is bad.
You sound just like Grida. Give me the salts!"
Do you care what happened to Grida?
"Hey, she's nice and all, but she's clingy. She was starting to mess with my relaxed attitude.
But you brought the salts! Let's just enjoy them."
I think the bath salts turned Grida into a zombie.
"That's a good one! What a joker! A zombie ….
Come on, hand them over."
All right. If you insist.
"Yes! This is going to be epic, my friends. Epic!"
No. The salts are too dangerous.
"This isn't funny. I was all set to give you gold for helping us, but that's not going to happen now. Just go away and leave me alone.
Spoil sport."

If you give Dralof the bath salts, he'll celebrate by adding them to the pool, causing himself and his friends to follow Grida's fate. Refusing to give him the bath salts will result in him pouting and turning you away, but his fellow bather Frera Dagger-Lost will call you over to give you the reward instead.

NotesEdit

  • After the quest, another note from Grida detailing how she was infected will appear just south of the hot spring Dralof is sitting in.

Quest StagesEdit

Bath Time
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
I should look for Grida at the apothecary in Darkwater Crossing, a town near Fort Amol.
Objective: Find Grida Meadmoon
Grida left a note in the ransacked apothecary. I should read it.
Objective: Read Grida's Note
Grida's note included a recipe for Darkwater Crossing's bath salts. I need to kills trolls for their fat, get claws from mudcrabs, and barter for daril. Maybe I'll run into Grida while I collect these items.
Objective: Collect Mudcrab Claws: 0/4
Objective: Collect Troll Fat: 0/2
Objective: Collect Daril
Objective Hint: Check Argonian Camp
I collected items for the recipe, but there's still no sign of Grida. Perhaps she's at the mill she mentioned in the note. I need to go there and grind the ingredients, anyway.
Objective: Grind Ingredients at the Mill
Hidden Objective: Kill Grida
As I ground the bath salts ingredients, Grida appeared. She was some kind of undead creature. I wonder if the bath salts had anything to do with her condition? I should speak to Dralof about this.
Objective: Talk to Dralof Waterwalker
Finishes quest  I decided to give Dralof the bath salts. He's a big Nord and he knows the risks.
Objective: Talk to Dralof Waterwalker
Finishes quest  I decided not to give the bath salts to Dralof. They're dangerous and I don't want to see Dralof and his friends get hurt. Now it looks like Frera Dagger-Lost wants to talk to me.
Objective: Talk to Frera Dagger-Lost

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
